There is the end of your 401Ks. I wonder who ended up with all that money.

Not unless you need the money now. If you need it in 5-7 years your balances will be back to normal and whatever you're buying after the bottom (which will come soon) will enjoy huge gains. The people who held on through 2008-09 when the market fell 55%, and starting buying again when the Dow stopped dropping at 6,500 made out like bandits.

It went to a place they refer to as “money heaven.” The companies are still there, they’re just worth less now.
This has the makings of a deflationary depression like 1929. The fed has obviously seen some really bad data and is trying to head off the worst of it.
I notice that after being smashed last week, the gold stocks were up about 10% today. Kind of like Homestake Mining back in the 30’s.

I’m diversified quite well. While the stock market is down nearly 30%, my portfolio is down only 15%. And since I don’t need the money right away, my losses are on paper. Once we’re over the hump of this mess, stocks will go back up as will my IRA.

It is a fallacy to look at it that way The “money” never existed in the first place. It was simply a valuation. Only when your shares are sold is there actual money involved.

No, it’s not - until you sell, they’re just “compressed”...

There is the end of my, and millions of others retirement in the coming 5 to 10 years.
All because of complete insane mass hysteria fanned by the socalled media and “medical” experts.
I suspect that many will be making an adjustment to their 401K and IRA contributions this week if they have already not done so ... that is drop their contributions to $0.
The Stock Market needs to be closed along with everything else for 2 - 3 weeks until some semblance of sanity returns.
