De Blasio: We’re ‘Close to’ Needing Government to Ensure Food Supply Is ‘Equitably Distributed’

We’re going to have to create feeding stations of some kind going forward, of different types. We’re doing home deliveries for seniors. We’re closing down senior center programming, but we’re doing — using senior centers as kitchens in effect, dispensaries to get meals out to seniors at their home. There’s a lot of pieces we’re going to have to alter. And look, the Great Depression and the New Deal are very instructive here. I don’t — I’m not saying bread lines, but let’s be clear, we’re getting close to a reality where the government has to ensure that the food supply, that it is not only available, but that it’s equitably distributed. We’re going to have to get into a heavy intervention in people’s economic lives.

So, if we’re truly trying to stop the spread of this virus, now we have cooks needing to show up to cook and package meals for all the students in the school system, and the moms lining up with all kids in tow to get their free food .... how is that stopping

Group for asking why just anyone can go in and grab up all this free food ..... I thought this was only to be for the poorest among us. All these parents who claimed I was “shaming” them for picking up this food.

I’m sorry, parents .... but you are responsible to feed your kids .... not the schools or the general taxpayers!!! What the hell is wrong with people — is no one self sufficient anymore?? When I was raising my kids on a very modest military salary, we did not accept a free meal a single day in our lives.

So, can’t to work, or to bars or restaurants, but we can pull up to the food line to get our rations??
