Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will order all bars and restaurants in the state of Michigan to shut down their dine-in services in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.
A spokesperson confirmed the information Monday after Whitmer spoke with a TV station about it. Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist II tweeted the temporary shut-down would go into effect starting at 3 p.m.

Not sure if the remaining food sources will be able to service the new demand this places on drive-thru lanes, grocery stores, etc.
If there’s a bandwagon, Gretchen is sure to hop on.
I live in Maryland and fully expect the same from our Governor.
Hopefully not before tonight cause I have dinner plans
Hourly workers are bearing the brunt of this. Getting hours and paychecks cut and not a damn thing they can do about it. No win situation here.
PA doing it too.
Rat Gov following DNC order we have 46 cases in the entire state
Will no more than 25 gathered together be the new number ?
My wife and I were talking about this yesterday. I don’t know how those folks are going to pull this off. Many of them are paycheck to paycheck, sometimes self inflicted but still.
I don’t think the government can interfere with rights without declaring martial law.
I could be wrong, though. That is just what I’ve always believed.
These people are insane!!!
Actually from all the data viewed the new number is zer0 in honor of their hero
I had an interesting decision to make last month. I turned 66 and can take full social security while working. I decided to continue working, even though there will be a tax hit on the SS, because we want to pay our house off this year.
But if I were to quit today we’d still be fine because our total cost of living, including food, house payment, etc., is roughly half of our SS alone.
IOW, I could get laid off TODAY and I would just see it as God telling me it’s time to quit.
And if the SS should stop, well that would mean that our government and culture has collapsed and bullets would be more important than money anyway.
And every time they update the number, they NEVER tell you the condition of the individual. You could test positive at the request of the health department simply because you came in contact with someone else who tested positive yet you have no symptoms at all.........
She should just demand that everyone must remain in their homes and declare martial law and get it over with.......
The mask is slipping and some of these busybody governors are positively giddy with the frequency and severity of bans on this and that.
Worse, the media are praising the control freakery which will, of course, only encourage future freakery.
As and when the curve bends down will the politicians remove the bans with the same publicity and alacrity? Or will they claim that until all cases are resolved they can’t or wont’?
Also - it’s all very well to ‘declare a [health] emergency’ but it is not unreasonable to ask under what statutes they claim authority and for how long. I’m sorry but panic and fear are not a blank check for government running every aspect of existence.
Finally, the hip happening position to take is that ‘this isn’t an overreaction’ - obviously a response to criticism of, well, a [possible] overreaction.
An ‘overreaction’ is defined as too much/too soon/too often/too extensive. But we lack a control group in this experiment. I’m willing to concede that, logically, we don’t know if it’s an overreaction (although I assert that it is) but, equally logically, we will know in the fullness of time.
Unfortunately, the tendency of government and media to avoid learning lessons or even acknowledging recent history will mean that media and government will take turns patting each other on the back for their ‘brave, decisive action’ and stoking of fears. What they will not do, of course, is make a cold-eyed assessment of the coronavirus damage and the proportionality of their ban-everything-everywhere policy.
They will have the great benefit of hindsight and attribution error when they say ‘well if we hadn’t done X then Y would have happened.’
It must be convenient to induce consequences but never have to admit those consequences.
Restaurants, bars, cafes, movie theaters, the like will go bankrupt within weeks. Thousands of jobs are going to be lost. More people on the “dimocrats give us free stuff” rolls. The economy will start going south. Trump will be blamed. Election results will be vary because of it. I pray the LORD keeps His hand on this nation and keeps Mr. Trump in office. God chooses who rules, who is in office, who loses elections. He is the reason Trump won in the first place. Simply no other way to explain it. We who believe in Him will continue to pray His hand stays on this nation. The day it is removed, America is finished. Simple as that!!!
If there is no one to stop them they can and will interfere with rights at their whim. Who will top them? The courts? They own the Courts and the enforcement agencies. The people? They do not give a damn about the people, or what they say or think. All they care about is getting rid of President Trump. And they see this as a way to get rid of him.
Hourly workers are bearing the brunt of this. Getting hours and paychecks cut and not a damn thing they can do about it. No win situation here.
Trillion dollar “emergency” bill from the House Dems incoming.
I dont think they will avoid trying to meet high demand.
Sure beats making nothing, and people are more than understandable of the situation. The local places around me have been inundated with posts supporting them and people are using the take-out, and drive-thru options that have existed already.
Gotta be in line with Illinois, Ohio, and NYC, I guess.
Not sure if the remaining food sources will be able to service the new demand this places on drive-thru lanes, grocery stores, etc....
...
DeWine in Ohio fell into Dems’ trap. Dept of Health commie woman telling him what to do, so when it doesn’t happen, he’ll be the good loser squish Pubbie and allow Cordray, the commie to win, and DeWine will be given a position in that administration and be the good loser. I hate Republicans of this sort.
“The mask is slipping and some of these busybody governors are positively giddy with the frequency and severity of bans on this and that.”
And if they didnt, we would have a whole other group on FR swearing they were trying to get everyone infected as an “Agenda 21” plot.
