Agreed, we should get our health supplies mostly from US, Canada is OK. There used to be a thriving pharmaceuticals industry in Puerto Rico. For some mechanism I don’t know in detail, that production is gone. Maybe they should be getting it back. They probably still have a lot of the infrastructure to start quickly.

Can somebody fill me in on what Google’s role in this, per the President? I’m curious because, about a week ago, they scrubbed a ton of apps tied to the coronavirus. Not there are a few legit looking ones. Wondered if that was part of it.
Nope. The smallpox, diptheria, pertussis, were a separate vaccination. The polio vaccinations we had were in the 50's. I remember them vividly because all four of us kids had them. It was developed by Jonas Salk, and contained live virus, and it was given in, I believe, three different injections...the last one being the booster. It was injected intramuscularly, and within a few hours, the symptoms of aching, along with pain and discomfort when moving the arm, would begin. It would recede gradually.

The Salk vaccine used killed virus and was injected.
The Sabin vaccine used live attenuated vaccine and was given on a sugar cube.
The Sabin vaccine has been discontinued because the LAV can revert to wild type and cause paralysis.
I remember MASS innoculation via oral pilio vaccine....in a sugar lump. HUGE lines of parents and kids lined up to get it in the late 50s
I’d be fine with requiring about 40% of pharmaceuticals to be manufactured in the US. But limit it to 20% by any single foreign country. Spread it out.
I had the same sort of experience, in Nov 2017. I went to my Doc with a slow heartbeat, 45bpm. He ran an EEG trace, took one loot at it and sent me to the local, small town hospital ER. They decided that I needed a pacemaker. There were only two beds available at hospitals that installed pacemakers south of Portland, so they sent me to a cardiac speciality clinic at the big hospital in Eugene, OR. This was in the early weeks of the 2017 - 2018 flu season, which was another big year in the NW.
I am doing well, hardly know I have a pacemaker keeping my heart beating normally.
