Before WWI, some of my ancestors and their family were quarantined in a small southern Iowa town for a couple weeks with scarlet fever. Their house was placarded and food was left on the steps. These people were scrappy "po whites" who raised their share of hell. How did they handle it?

They didn't "break quarantine," and they stuck it out like adults... even the kids.
