In April 2017, Dr Richard J. Hatchett, former director of the U.S Government's Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), became the full-time CEO.[7] Hatchett was also a member of the United States Homeland Security Council under George W. Bush, and the United States National Security Council, under Barack Obama.[8][9]
One in ten requiring intensive care in Italy.
Opinion indeed next he will say what the lottery numbers will be for Saturday.
I would think EBOLA is FAR WORSE......but that’s just me.
Let me get ahead of this, right fricking now...because (”don’t doubt me”), Rush will be saying it by next week and, later, the proggies: this C-19 will be blamed on global warming/climate change. Just wait...
So aids doesnt count with this guy, has he studied the 1956, and 1968 flu outbreaks and what about the Swine Flu.
“All we have to fear is fear itself.” FDR
I’m certain this is a very bad virus, but no doubt the media and leftist are milking. this for all they can get. I can and will destroy the world’s economy and send the entire planet into a panic if we are not careful. We’re in the brink now.
Infectivity and lethality to specifically who? Thus far the CDC and WHO have released numbers and locations but not the race, age or underlying medical conditions of those who actually become infected, seriously ill and die. Limited information leads to panic but not understanding.
I think it is the most “Overblown” Flu in History
But MSM won’t give me Headlines and Front Page stories
Normalcy bias poo-pooers in 4, 3, 2, 1...Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Was he around during the 1918 Flu epidemic? Has he even read about it?
doesn’t matter
only 10+ years left
If only the deplorables hadn’t irredeemably elected Donald Trump this wouldn’t be happening!!!
“This Is The Most Frightening Disease I’ve Ever Encountered In My Career” Says Architect Of National Pandemic Strategy...”
He’s never had an anal fissure.
Unlikely!
More frightening than AIDS? More frightening than tuberculosis? Lyme disease? Shingles? How about syphillis? How do you spell syphillis? Other STDs like herpes? Herpes is pretty scary. More frightening than smallpox? Anthrax?
Probably this is a good time to hype a scary pathogen if you are the head of a big governmental entity. More money and then maybe you get a raise.
5 more new cases confirmed in my county - CONTRA COSTA. Though they did not mention names, ages or whatever.
Granddaughter works in a hospital in SoCal. There is a definite shortage of masksnot enough for everyone. One patient has died and several more are very sick. The death has not shown up on the Johns Hopkins chart. She also said that getting testing kits isn’t easy. Of course this is anecdotal but things could be a bit worse than we’re being led to believe.
The extraordinary measures taken by the Chinese, the Koreans, and the Italians leads me to believe that the people at the tops of their governments are scared of this. For that matter, here in the US we’ve seen the first quarantine being enforced in half a century as well ‘moon-suited’ flight attendants on the evacuation flights from China tells me that President Trump isn’t taking this casually either.
Then why are tens of thousands of more cases of regular flu and equally more deaths from regular flu????
My opinion is that it infects socialists. Look at all the Chinese communists who caught it and died. But that's my opinion.
Last night me, my nephew and his wife (she’s a doctor, specialty infectious diseases), attended a Jazz concert at a theater at Columbia University in New York City.
The “rules” are - never touch a public surface with your bare hand, never touch your nose or face with a bare hand, never lick anything you have not washed, wash your hands immediately after you touch anything. If ever infected, keep your hands gloved and wash every surface of your home.
You will not breath in most of any infectious spores if they escape an infected person. They - if they do - will exit that person with a cough or a sneeze and will be contained in the mucous expelled with the cough or sneeze, and that mucous will fall to some surface. They will not die on that surface right away. Latex gloves are much more important than any face mask in public, and the warning to not touch your face or nose with your hand.
Oh, the crowd we joined was great, as was the Jazz. The leader of the Jazz group even thanked everyone - maybe 400, for coming out - in our circumstances today.
My local coffee joint is busy as ever, Home Depot, supermarkets and other retailers are doing fine - could hardly get in or out one retail complex parking lot today.
Italy? They have certain problems of their own, specific to them. Same with South Korea which obviously is not doing anywhere near as well as Taiwan, in spite of similar rates of human interchange with China.
To use a trite 1960s “civil rights” phrase - “We shall overcome”.
