Romney may vote against Trump again — this time with some bite

Mitt Romney became persona non grata in certain parts of the conservative movement last month by becoming the first senator of a president’s own party to ever vote to remove them from office.

Romney indicated Thursday that he is skeptical about the need for the Senate Homeland Security Committee to issue a subpoena related to Hunter Biden’s work for Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy company.

“I would prefer that investigations are done by an independent, nonpolitical body,” Romney told The Post’s Mike DeBonis. “There’s no question the appearance is not good.”

Republicans have a 8-to-6 majority, meaning Romney’s vote, when combined with the six Democrats on the committee, would deadlock it at 7-7 and prevent the subpoena from being issued.

Actually, Joseph Cofer Black worked for Burisma. He’s a close adviser to Mitt Romney. In simple terms...he’s probably the person you should ask for an investigation upon. Ask him about his vast knowledge on natural gas (he was a CIA player for several decades).

Once you ask for that subpoena, and turn to Mitt to abstain from the voting...you open up the best ‘nut’ to crack.

Romney will vote in a way that damages President Trump every damned time.

Every.

Damned.

Time.

Mitt is connected to the Ukraine crimes of the Bidens. Bet on it. That’s why he’s trying to stop the investigation.

-- I'm sick of bloviating Congressman and their laughable investigations. --

I see the point of congressional investigations as entirely political. That's the point of conducting them, to dirty up the political opponents. That and to congratulate the various federal departments and thank them for their service.

I suppose another purpose is to mislead the public. See the investigations into government snooping, and the promises that this would stop.

“I would prefer that investigations are done by an independent, nonpolitical body,” Romney told The Post’s Mike DeBonis. “There’s no question the appearance is not good.”

Yet, he voted with democrats in a highly political and very partisan investigation to remove Trump from office.

The guy has no credibility whatsoever. Hating Trump is what drives him, and that's way worse than politics.

Mitt is definitely a dill weed, but I’m wondering if he’s angling for something bigger here? The Dims know they don’t have a prayer this November, but they — and Mitt — are so deluded they may be thinking about trying something “radical” to bring in votes. If Biden wins the nomination, could he possibly pick Romney as his VP? It sounds far-fetched, but don’t forget how the media glorified Romney when he voted against the President during the impeachment sham.

Again, I know this sounds nutty, and the loony Left will never go along with it, but the Dims and Romney are deep in the throes of TDS.

Abrams or Obama in my opinion. They are telegraphing that it’s going to be a woman of color.

We will see how this goes. Under our Constitution, the Congress, and each branch of it, has its own powers. Being in the minority in one chamber, and having a narrow majority in the other means the President has to work with Congressmen and Senators to get things down. So far, we have mostly won in the Senate. The vote to end Obamacare was the obvious exception, with the late John McCain casting the deciding vote the wrong way. Contrariwise, on Kavanaugh, Susan Collins came through like a champion. At this time, Mitt Romney, whose time has passed, is being a pain in the you know where. I suspect envy of Trump is part of this. Plus, his desire to be accepted by the elites. It is pathetic.

He’ll remain a Republican when he speaks at the 2020 democrat convention.

He’ll shift his party affiliation in the senate if he can shift the majority to dem in 2021.

If Romney overtly tries to scuttle an investigation of Ukraine corruption,of which there is evidence he had a role, then what is left of the conservative media, elements of the Wall Street Journal, Fox and the National Review must lead a litany against him. The documents that Giuliani has naming him must be leaked and published. Before there is a vote in the Committee, calls should be made for Romney to abstain. Suspect that people like Soros, desperate to protect Biden, are suddenly becoming the new best friends of some Republican Senators who might for the right price decline to go forward with an investigation.
