Dow set to jump more than 600 points as Biden scores an early lead on Super Tuesday

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a sharply higher open on Wednesday as early results on Super Tuesday showed former Vice President Joe Biden notching key wins and reassuring investors of his place amid the top candidates in the Democratic pool.

Biden’s success early into Super Tuesday voting appeared to buoy U.S. equity futures as the former vice president notched a flurry of victories in key southern states including Virginia, North Carolina, and Arkansas. So far, NBC News projects Biden’s delegate total at 453, ahead of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ total of 373. To win the nomination, a Democratic candidate must receive support from a majority of pledged delegates — at least 1,991 of the total 3,979 pledged delegates.

“We think the equity market has also been spooked by the decline in expectations that Trump will get reelected in the betting market, as well as Sanders’ early 2020 surge in the betting markets and the polls,” wrote RBC Capital Markets Head of Equity Strategy Lori Calvasina, referring to the market’s turbulence in recent weeks.

Calvasina wrote that if Biden proves he can pose a serious threat to Sanders on Super Tuesday, industries that have come under pressure throughout the Vermont senator’s recent rise (e.g., health care) may see positive moves on Wednesday.

“If Super Tuesday goes well for Biden, the areas with the most negative assessments may experience some relief. We think this is particularly true for Health Care, where performance has had a decent relationship with Biden’s odds in the betting markets for quite some time,” she wrote.

Just a taste of what the general citizenry would be like if we faced a real crisis. We would be doomed.

Yes, any stock market bounce is more about Bernie losing than Biden winning. But the mainstream media is in full-out protect mode of Sleepy Joe.

“biden’s a mess.

bernie’s a communist”

Totally agree. I’m one that thinks about the “what if’s” regarding the future of anything. Specifically, what if Trump loses the election via massive vote fraud? Let’s face it, we will be stuck with a rat president. In that case, I’m hoping it’s Biden. He’d be a weak extension of the obama presidency with his strings being pulled by out of sight swampsters.

True but he’s obviously in the throes of dementia, can they keep him in line?

Agreed.

But unlike hillary, who had physical problems but was as sharp as she gets (ain’t much), biden is slipping kind of quickly and it’s almost unimaginable that he could get through a debate without saying something incredibly wrong or insane.

Well, he could just repeat the insane laughter program he pulled in the vp debate years ago. For some reason he was declared the winner for that performance.

Biden is the antidote to the Coronavirus?

He's the antidote to Bernie.

name one election which was won because of endorsements by anyone?

How many endorsements did Clinton get from celebrities and every high ranking Democrat to boot?

What was the result?

Endorsements mean zilch, nada, nothing.

How we supposed to read this?

Investors less worried about Bernie now?

Or see Biden as better than Trump?

I think it has more to do with the one doing the eThey want to appear to be on the winning side..even if they can’t stand the person they are endorsing.

Again, doing the forward “what if thinking”. He’d be ridiculed and his dementia or whatever is going on will worsen and he’d be the laughing stock of the whole world. And his handlers already know this. Their plan B is in his running mate.

I think he’d step down so the VP could take over. Now that person is the one to watch. That person would be the real president, likely before Biden’s first term was up.

Seriously, imagine a Biden-Clinton ticket. In this case it would be a race to see who takes Joe out, dementia or Arkancide.

The market is volatile right now, so it’s being moved by short term traders. The media always makes a claim that they know what’s moving the market, but they are rarely right and there’s no accountability for being wrong.

It’s just another way that Fake News puts out Fake News.

Have heard the Clinton as VP proposal. How does she run for the second spot after running for the top job? Just don’t see it even if shes counting on moving up quickly.

She’ll take it. Joe isn’t going to make it past 6 months if he wins the election. Cognitive he’s slipping fast and she slip into the presidency through the back door
