Researchers who have examined the genomes of two coronavirus infections in Washington state said the similarities between the cases suggest that the virus may have been spreading in the state for weeks.
Washington had the U.S.’ first confirmed case of coronavirus, announced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Jan. 20. Based on an analysis of the virus’s genetic sequence, another case that surfaced in the state and was announced Friday probably was descended from that first case.
The two people live in the same county but are not known to have had contact with one another, and the second case occurred well after the first would no longer be expected to be contagious. So the genetic findings suggest that the virus has been spreading through other people in the community for close to six weeks, according to one of the scientists who compared the sequences, Trevor Bedford, an associate professor at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington.

It was clear to me that China was lying. It was clear to me it could have very well have started long before China admitted.
It is not that hard to understand with air travel that it could have been here soon after it started in China..we just didn't know it.
If you are one of those that got hit with the double flu...one of the worst you have ever had..this might have been it.

The other case is against a Chinese man who had been doing cancer cell research at a Boston medical center. He was stopped at Logan Airport back in December. Federal agents found 21 vials of biological materials squirreled away in a sock in his luggage. He originally told agents he didn’t have anything in his bags, later admitted that he was trying to take the vials to China to do his own research.

Testing for it was rare up until just very recently, so it might be hard to say when it started at this location.
I’d guess about 2 or 3 weeks ago as a start date there, with cases reaching the end/fatal stage in the last day or so.
From Dec15-Jan23 thousands of people from the Wusan epicenter entered multiple points in North America. Of course the virus is here. The good news is that there have been some individual cases but thus far no unmistakable China or Korea like mass outbreaks here.
This is why preppers tell you to have a supply in your house. Be it 4 weeks or 4 months. I am doing 4 weeks of stuff I absolutely have to have.

I do think it is good news.
It’s been here. People have gotten. People have probably died from it.
But it hasn’t been mass dying.

Those who have lived in Seattle, or been there, know there is a very percentage of Asians that live there. How many of them with relatives in the stricken areas of China and Japan?
Asians seem much more vulnerable to this virus. The modern Iranian population has a huge Chinese imprint on their genome. The Silk Road transversed Iran and the Mongols once conquered it.
Would be nice if the CDC, that has the data told the truth and informed the American people the race of the people who are becoming ill or have died from COVID-19 coronavirus. What are they hiding?
I agree, we have been living with this for the last month or two. Between regular flu and cold season, we really haven’t noticed. The increases we see in the next few weeks will be because of testing not the increase in spread.

We have seen a wave of very severe flu cases killing several young people in our area. In late December/early January.
It has been here, we just weren’t testing for it.
And it is in some ways a good thing, as it would demonstrate it is mild in 80% of the cases as the ...government?...is telling us.
We have to remember China is a polluted place and their lungs alone are not as healthy as ours, their medical system is horrendous too.
The real question is what is happening in Italy and why is it so bad there? I worry much less about the stats from 2nd/3rd world countries. Look to other 1st world countries to assess what is happening and why.
What explains the Italians?
Yes, there are big areas that have Chinese people who could spread it
But it does appear Italians are getting hit with it..
Italians , Iranians, Asians have a thalessemia issue in their genes. So there could be something else that connects them that makes them susceptible

This has been since mid-December. I have never seen it go on this long and so widespread. Something makes me feel that Coronavirus has got to be playing a role here. I know all abou the testing but I think alot of the numbers are estimates. Either way, the US is is full scale flu season still, and has been for a very very long time this year.
Actually, third world countries are a mystery in this.
They aren’t getting hit with it.
I theorize part of it is their health care and testing.
But Nigeria deals with Lasso Fever so they are equipped to test etc.
They have one person who has it. I think that is the Italian that flew in from Milan..
