A 23-year-old woman who is taking legal action against an NHS gender clinic says she should have been challenged more by medical staff over her decision to transition to a male as a teenager.
A judge gave the go-ahead this week for a full hearing of the case against the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.
Lawyers will argue children cannot give informed consent to treatment delaying puberty or helping them to transition.
Keira Bell is one of the claimants and will give evidence in the judicial review, which is likely to be heard in early summer.
The second claimant, known only as Mum A, is the mother of a 15-year-old girl with autism, who is awaiting treatment at the clinic.
Keira describes being a tomboy as a child. When asked how strongly she felt the need to change her gender identity, she replied that it gradually built up as she found out more about transitioning online.
Then as she went down the medical route, she said "one step led to another".
She was referred to the Tavistock GIDS clinic at the age of age 16. She said after three one-hour-long appointments she was prescribed puberty blockers, which delay the development of signs of puberty, like periods or facial hair.
She felt there wasn't enough investigation or therapy before she reached that stage.
"I should have been challenged on the proposals or the claims that I was making for myself," she said. "And I think that would have made a big difference as well. If I was just challenged on the things I was saying."

I have likened these two issues many times.
Social contigation combined with changing adolescent brains and obsessive thinking.
Yet you think it is alright for the medical profession to sexually transition a child? No the child is not to blame here, the medical profession is to blame, and the only way we will get this changed is by attacking the medical profession that has accepted this quackery, as the right thing to do. This is especially true with all the acceptance and heavy promotion that children are subjected to in this "enlightened" brave new world, from a multitude of directions.
Now if an adult wants to transition sexually, and they are determined to be mental capable to make decisions, then by all means, allow them to make that choice. Then suits brought by them, should they suddenly have remorse about their decision, will be immediately dismissed.
They would have, but they know it's not nice to make fun of retarded people.
An example would be that mentally ill nut job, actress Charlize Theron.
Since her adopted son was about three, she has been raising him as a girl. When he gets to be a teenager, she’ll most likely let him transition.
Then there’s that divorced pediatrician who is trying hard to turn her son into a girl. Luckily, his father just had a court victory.

Willful stupidity should never be rewarded.
There are certainly parents that push transition for their own needs, ignoring the child’s needs & wishes. There are teachers, nurses & clinics that do the same.
It is all a part of the Leftist drive to destroy the family unit, make the kids into charges of the state & to sexualize childhood. I find it alternately infuriating & disheartening. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Father & son you mentioned. The son seems so happy as a boy, playing with his twin. I don’t really care what the Mom’s angle is, she is not acting in the child’s interest.

From what I have seen many of the transition clinics are run by transitioned health care workers & surgeons. They have a vested interest in proving that they made the right decision for themselves by transitioning others.
With all the mid-life health risks these treatments entail the licensing boards should be forbidding the use of hormone treatment & surgery until maturity (21yrs at least), when the patient can legally give consent and may understand the risk.

That poor guy in Texas had to go through HELL because of his evil, vile ex-wife wanting to turn their son into a daughter. Every person who was in on the pressure to make the boy a girl should be sued.
I’m so glad the father went public and viral with the issue. Cannot believe it took the Texas Governor to get involved. The acting person on the case should have been removed from any and all case he/she was part of from the sheer stupidity. Yes, I was thrilled my governor put in his two cents!
