Michael Bloomberg on Thursday defended his covert surveillance of New York City Muslims as mayor in the wake of 9/11 as he faces mounting criticism for the policy.
Under Bloombergs backing, the NYPD spent at least six years cataloging information on Muslim communities, surveilling Muslim-owned businesses, mosques and other schools and organizations linked to the faith which advocates have described as racist and baseless religious profiling.
But Bloomberg said it was what authorities were supposed to do following the terror attacks during an appearance on PBS Newshour.

You know, MiniMike had at least two good policies as mayor - stop and frisk, and muslim surveillance. Too bad he’s reneging on both of them.
He’ll apologize by tomorrow.
Mike is correct on this.
The mini-turd is correct and will of course reneg on this. He is of course wrong on so many issues as to make him unpalatable to both parties.
Mini Mike is not used to answering questions.
He had more than 2 but as the years past, he got loony and power mad. Or just mad.
He was good mayor, as far as NYC mayors go.
The guy took the subway to work.
How many limousine liberals would do that?
He was NEVER a conservative. But that’s not gonna happen in NYC.
For NYC, he was an white ultra nationalist American :)
Then he lost his mind with soft drinks and salt and...
islam is a scourge upon the earth and must be expunged.
dp0622 is right ... Bloomberg was a good Mayor at first, continuing the policies of Giuliani .. the Dem alternative being lame assed liberal Mark Green ... then Bloomie went power berserk, "Stop-n-Frisk" (controversial, perhaps unconstitutional .. it's propriety is still up in the air), "Bike Lanes", etc etc .. and of course the famous "16 Ounce Soft Drink" ban ....
Still though, Bloomie was a whole lot better than the current NYC Mayor ... Bill de Bl'Asshole ...

I saw that interview. I did not see him renege. Rather, he seemed to up the ante, saying is thing to do no matter what group.
Very surprised the media is not continually pointing out he carried the “R” next to his name as mayor. (even though it was just to get elected)
He was tough on crime and muzzy terror, but now he pretends to be ashamed of all that, so he can get democrat votes.
He’s a big pompous hypocrite. Like most politicians, he’ll say whatever he thinks you want to hear.
Turning one of the four lanes on most of the avenues over to bicycles and pedestrians and ...
Proposing and advocating "congestion pricing" (effectively a toll for using Manhattan streets; which never got passed but keeps rearing its ugly head even now) and ...
Allowing bums to occupy sidewalks again and ...

denocrat Nanny Bloomberg wrongly blamed the Times Square van bombing attempt on a middle aged overweight white guy who was probably upset about the passing of Obamacare.
This is an attempt to make the billion dollar marxist appear to be concerned about the threat of Islamonazism in America.
He thinks conservatives are a bigger threat.
New York will have a Muslim mayor in the not-so-distant future.
