South Philadelphia residents are outraged after a federal judge cleared the way for a safe injection site in the city. The planned site is not where it was originally proposed and some of the neighbors from the new location are not happy. Councilman Mark Squilla says the site will be at Constitution Health Plaza, near Broad and McKean Streets, in South Philadelphia.
During Wednesdays contentious press conference, promised facts about the forthcoming opening of the citys first injection site were overshadowed by a lot of back and forth between angry community members and the heads of nonprofit agency Safehouse, which is running the program on behalf of the City of Philadelphia.

What is a “safe injection site”? A place where junkies get free needles?
They deserve every injection site they get.
Reap what you’ve sown. You’re nothing but serfs, got it yet? You will submit.
This have something to do with fracking?

It goes further than that. They get free needles and “medical personnel” supervise the junkies in case they OD. They have narcan on hand. They will probably wind up as drug dealing centers and recruitment centers for substance abuse programs. It goes with out saying quality of life crimes will surge.
You are right, of course.
If these people do not like this they have to register and vote Republican.
They are already, and will continue to vote Democrat whether they do, or not.
A preview of coming attractions to Philly: Working really great in San Francisco ... particularly when the bum-junkies follow up with a healthy bowel movement in the middle of Market Street.
No, it’s worse than that. It’s a supervised injection site where people go to shoot up illegal drugs while under the supervision of medical folks. In many cases the government provides clean needle and other supplies for free.
I might be cold, but the great majority of people who use these drugs are already dead. These safe houses are not going to save their lives. It will only cause problems for a good neighborhood. Wouldn’t be surprised to see this facility burnt to the ground at some point.
“Fast Eddy” Rendell strikes again...giving it to Democrat voters “high and hard, again.
I’ve always felt every large city needed a 4-6 block area fenced and walled off from the outside, where drugs, prostitutes, and other assorted vice could be rampant. One way in, one way out. and a morgue and crematorium to burn the dead the next day.
That way the rest of the city could remain “clean”.
Nowhere near where the judge lives.
Yes, but in addition I wonder if its a BYOD (Bring Your Own Drugs) party, or if refreshments are served by the house.
"Huge" McHugh is a district judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania [Third Circuit Court of Appeals].
On August 1, 2013, president Æthelblack the Unready, First Kenyan president of the United States, nominated McHugh to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, to the seat vacated by Judge Harvey Bartle III, who took senior status on October 1, 2011.
On January 16, 2014 his nomination was reported out of committee. On Thursday March 13, 2014 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed a motion to invoke cloture on the nomination.
On March 26, 2014, cloture was invoked on the nomination in a 5643 vote. He was later confirmed that same day by a vote of 5941. He received his judicial commission on March 28, 2014.
McHuge was not wanted on the bench by the Republicans, apparently for good reason.
