ACC president: Bernie Sanders’ MI records omit measures of LVEF

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has refused to release further medical information about an MI he suffered last October, leaving much of the public with questions about his heart health.

By Anicka Slachta February 25, 2020

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has refused to release further medical information about an MI he suffered last October, leaving much of the public with questions about his heart health. Now, the president of the American College of Cardiology, Richard Kovacs, is arguing some of those questions could be answered with one simple metric: left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).

In an NBC exclusive published Feb. 24, Kovacs told the outlet that doctors’ letters released by Sanders’ campaign in December failed to include measures of the senator’s LVEF, which is widely regarded as a key indicator of CV health. Sanders said his team “released the full report” of his heart attack last year, though no comprehensive records have been made public to date.

Sanders’ heart attack, which he suffered while on the campaign trail in Las Vegas, was first classified as a blocked artery, according to earlier reports, and he underwent two stent placements to address the clot. Three days after the event, his campaign confirmed it had been an MI.

As someone that had the same Widow Maker heart attack and two stents inserted fifteen months ago, I know that the heart Ejection Fraction is very important and any resulting heart damage from the heart attack.

What the heck does his ticker matter, other than providing a convenient excuse to use after Bernie’s bribed to go away.

Again.

An 80 year old guy with a history of a recent MI would surely have some trouble buying life insurance.

Prediction of survival. LVEF is pretty predictive. That said I doubt it was degraded too much or he wouldn’t be able to give stump speeches. Any significant deterioration would leave obvious signs and symptoms. His ankles would swell up pretty quickly while standing for an hour or so and he would become noticeably breathless.

Exactly. In his case LVEF isn’t as important as this. What is the greatest predictor of having a future heart attack? Having had a previous heart attack. The big secret is his cardiologist probably advised him to drop out of the race but his ego won’t let him.

Cardiac disease runs in my family. I’ve been up close and personal with it. I’ve also seen medical medical miracles, medical ****ups, and what a really motivated patient can do that will totally amaze the medical providers.

I don’t care about Bernie’s heart health. I don’t think he’ll be the nominee. And it won’t be due to his ticker. The only thing we don’t know yet it what Bernie’s is price is to go away quietly.

Bernie may have a price to go away quietly, but I don’t think his bros have one.

I bet he is hiding a medication he is taking or why he isn’t taking the usual meds for heart patients.

It’s funny that Bernie’s biggest problem is that his heart refuses to work.

Bernie is going to win CA and TX next week. Why would he “go away” after that? Most likely he is going to be the nom.

He got a fancy sports car and a vacation home last time. I’m thinking private jet and a credit card for fuel.

I’m not worried at all about his heart. I’m worried about his mind and that he believes that communism is a nifty idea.

I don't think he'll go into the convention with a majority of delegates, thereby giving the Dem establishment the opportunity to steal the nomination from him on the second ballot.

And from 2016 we know that he can be bought, so it is unlikely that he will run on a third party ticket.

I Bernie is the nominee, it will be because the Dem establishment thinks that they need to purge the party of ultra-leftists after his epic loss in November.

He’s 78 and will turn 79 this year in September. He was born in NYC a few months before the attack on Pearl Harbor. President Trump is currently 73 and was born in 1946 also in NYC. If he completes his second term President Trump will be roughly the same age Bernie is now. Hopefully in better shape.

It would seem over-the-hill Sanders is more likely to make funeral arrangements than inaugural plans.

"What the heck does his ticker matter"

It matters because of his choice for vice president - especially if it is Warren. Incompetent Sanders couldn't do nearly as much damage to the country as Warren would.
