Most cases are not life-threatening, which is also what makes the virus a historic challenge to contain
(big snip)
The Harvard epidemiology professor Marc Lipsitch is exacting in his diction, even for an epidemiologist. Twice in our conversation he started to say something, then paused and said, Actually, let me start again. So its striking when one of the points he wanted to get exactly right was this: I think the likely outcome is that it will ultimately not be containable.
Lipsitch predicts that, within the coming year, some 40 to 70 percent of people around the world will be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. But, he clarifies emphatically, this does not mean that all will have severe illnesses...

You can get this virus more than once(Each time it is more likely to kill you).
It takes weeks to show up even though you can pass it on before you have symptoms.
It can survive on surfaces for more than 10 days.
It appears to be altering itself.
I really don’t think that the world will ever be rid of this thing.
Speculation on my part: their chances of contracting a more virulent strain were increased by working in the hospital.
WHOEVER eats the filthy animals that this came from MUST be executed. No other solution is acceptable.
I thought we all had 10 years left.
As an older male with a history of heart attacks, I wasnt looking forward to it.
Yes. My thought exactly.
3 billion infected within this year.
It tells me this expert is insane.
No one can be that stupid.
I remember when they said AIDS would decimate entire generations.
Not only that, but younger people tend to go into more crowds, they commute on mass transit more, go to work, meetings, travel on business when they have no choice...
Younger people are screwed.
As I type this message to you, I am in my fully self contained bunker. This was not an easy decision. I will check back with you all later to check on your status. Best of luck to you.....
The enviro wackos and climate change screwballs should be happy - along with the voluntary human extinction misfits.
Never let a good crisis go to waste. If given the chance the deep state would spread this virus thru every aisle in Wal-Mart.
So, are we still importing goods from China? If it survives on surfaces for ten days .
Maybe if we have not been subjected to two major hoaxes within the past few years there wouldnt be such skepticism .
Bunch of doctors and nurses in China, young and in good health, have been killed by this. Presumably as medical personnel on the front lines, they got the best healthcare that could be provided.
I have been watching YouTube videos of an emergency nurse in Wuhan who has it, her husband is making close to daily videos of what she has been going through. She has had it for more than 3 weeks and is still in the hospital although she is slowly getting better.

Goodbye to grandma Rose's meatballs, eh?
Never hurts to boost your overall resistance and sufficient vitamin C along with NAC as mentioned certainly can play a big part in Fighting the flu virus!
Just ran across the following article by Dr. Andrew W. Saul what seems to confirm the effectiveness of vitamin C. Along here NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) deserves also to be mentioned a precursor to a very potent anti-oxidant glutathione, which is also used as an antidote against acetaminophen, as well as many other poisonous substances.
Comment: Dr. Andrew W. Saul, an international expert on vitamin therapy, says: The coronavirus can be dramatically slowed or stopped completely with the immediate widespread use of high doses of vitamin C. Bowel tolerance levels of C taken in divided doses throughout the day, is a clinically proven antiviral, without equal.
Fighting the flu virus, this may include the new corona virus as well. A while back when the H-1 N-1 virus was active (2009) some one from the medical profession suggested the use of a good dose of NAC or N-Acetyl Cysteine along with a healthy dose of buffered ascorbic acid (Vitamin C-about twice as much C as NAC) and it appeared to work like a charm.
Possibly.
Hopefully that was the case.
The message of the article is, it's not like SARs or HIV in it's transmissibility
The deadliest snake in the world, only kills 10% of it's victims - but because it's so aggressive, it's the deadliest.
Marc Lipsitch, a professor of epidemiology at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health (HSPH), and director of the schools Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics, helped lead one of the two teams that first calculated the reproductive number of SARS in the 2002-2003 outbreak.
The disease appears to be transmitting pretty effectively, probably in Korea, probably in Japan, and probably in Iran. He has estimated that 40 to 70 percent of the adult global population will eventually become infected.
That said, Infected is different from sick, he is careful to point out. Only some of those people who become infected will become sick. As noted above, only about 1 percent to 2 percent of those who have become sick thus far have died, he says. But the number of people who are infected may be far greater than the number of those who are sick. In a way, he says, thats really good news. Because if every person who had the disease was also sick, then that would imply gigantic numbers of deaths from the disease.

That's assuming there's room in the hospital for you . . . A big part of what worries me is that it is very contagious. Even if most people have mild cases, the numbers I've been seeing are that 15-20% of people have severe cases. We don't have that kind of surge capacity in our hospitals, and many of our medical supplies and medicines are sourced from China.
I have a son who works in an understaffed ER, a niece who is expecting any day, and a 94 year old mother who survived Nazi occupation, communist takeover and a move across the ocean to start over with nothing. These are just my most vulnerable loved ones. I am taking this very seriously. I just pray I'm wrong about it.
