A proposal from Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer to increase the federal minimum wage to $22 per hour would body-slam the economy, according to a former CEO of one of America's major corporations.
Earlier this month, Steyer proposed increasing the federal minimum wage, which is currently $7.25 per hour, to $22 per hour, according to Fox Business. Other major Democratic presidential candidates have lined up behind a $15 minimum wage, according to The Washington Post.

Let’s name all the “jobs” that “robots” can take over....
“When theres a significant increase to minimum wage, price of essentials rises in kind.”
Yes. Every item McDonalds buys will also increase in price.
Not to mention Property Tax, Fuel Tax, Phone Tax, Sales Tax...this Tax, that Tax....etc..etc...
Most people don't have any idea..how much they are taxed.
Here is the ultimate cause and effect of minimum wage, and social pressure from parents and peers about working fast food. When I first went to work at MickeyD's we had a staff in the store of over one hundred and twenty hourly employees. When I left in '98 the level in answer to wages and staffing difficulties was reduced to under forty through the implementation of new less labor intensive equipment and procedures. And that long before self order Kiosks eliminating the need for cashiers.
Everywhere.....everywhere these nutjobs push their $15 minimum wage jobs are lost and businesses are forced out of the market resulting in even greater job loss!
But hey that the goal of socialism/communism, to have a two tired society the haves and all the rest of us. And people like Steyr, Sanders, Soros, etal, will always be the haves insulated from the fate of the rest of us by money, power or both.
Taxes are approaching 50%.
Federal spending exceeds revenue by 50%.
Progressives want to tax & spend substantially more.
Comes a point where I don’t see the point of working. I have most everything I need, I can grow or earn minimal $ to buy consumables.
Fed's, State, Property, phone, gas, utility, sales, etc....etc...
Even with the great increases in the price of gasoline since the early 1970s, a minimum-wage worker can buy more gasoline with one hour's pay than I could when I was working at a fast-food joint when I was an undergraduate.
I don’t think I’m being ridiculous and flippant at all. The fact is that a minimum wage imposed by law accomplishes nothing. If it actually did anything positive then we could just as well pass a law saying that everyone must be paid at least 100 dollars an hour with or without a job. If you don’t grasp that you don’t comprehend reality and you are in danger of falling for the socialist line.
I just paid a young man ten dollars an hour, well above the federal minimum wage, to help me straighten up my storage building today. I didn’t ask him to work for $7.25 but if he had asked for fifteen I simply would have let things stay messy. That is how the real world works and it works much better without government interference in every detail.
