A Turkish restaurant owner located in Suffolk County, NY (Eastern Long Island) I know told me (at that time) that he was visited by NYPD officers who surveilled his establishment and made his customers uncomfortable with their presence.
This happened on more than one occasion.
By the way, my Turkish colleague is Christian (which the NYPD would not know).

I’m all for surveillance of Muslims. Should be done still. Especially the Salafi ones. And NO money should come in from the Middle East to build mosques - well, at least until we can build cathedrals there.
