The DemocRats only want the support of the extremely to pay for their campaigns and the extremely poor whose vote they plan on buying with your money.

I was talking to truck drivers and waitresses and I was like, theoretically, aren't you who the Democratic Party should be speaking to and standing up for? But they thought the Democratic Party wanted nothing to do with them.

Yang should understand that the Democrat party gave up these people thirty years ago. The Democrats merely supported the union bosses and assumed these people would follow their union leader. After many of the jobs were sent off to other countries, these people dropped out of the unions, began fending for themselves, and realized, like Ronald Reagan, that the Democrat Party left them.

Then Trump came along. They may have been uneasy about him at first, but now, they are all in.

Democrats claim to be the party of working-class Americans and minorities. It's hard to make that argument when the majority of the people running for president are old, white, men who are millionaires and billionaires. It's antithetical to everything the party stands for.

It's antithetical to everything the party's public image states that it stands for, but in fact it's everything the party actually does stand for. You hear it a lot from tribal Dems who are not introspective enough to notice what everyone else has: it simply isn't true.

Note, for example, the reaction on the part of political wonks, social theorists, and pundits to the working class woman vote deserting Hillary for Trump in '16: the women were uneducated, they didn't understand their own interests as well as the Ivy League grads in thousand-dollar suits did, they were misled, they were stupid. Their fault. How could an enlightened party possibly appeal to such dirty-handed troglodytes? Nor was this an artifact of bitter post-election over-analysis, it was a theme broadcast into the homes of those women 24/7 through their television sets and that's what they were hearing from Democrats. If it showed anything it was that the Democrats were the Party Of Lack Of Self-Awareness and I can't think of an example more perfect than Hillary Clinton.

Politics does involve a bit more than "How do we fool these rubes long enough to get their votes before we fleece them?" Those rubes are the America that is constantly accused of sexism, racism, homophobia, and every other social sin imaginable, of environmental irresponsibility, of cultural appropriation, of terminal insensitivity toward others who hate them and want them dead. That is what the Dems have come to stand for. It's been noticed.

The identity politics in general have hurt them; there are only two spots on the ballot, and they can’t include all of the gender/race/class/deviant groups to whom they pander.

Both parties ignore under-45s at their own risk; many deal with a McJob economy that doesn’t provide much of a standard of living for them. They don’t fear communism/socialism out of ignorance, but they won’t defend capitalism because it doesn’t serve them in the same manner in which it served older generations.

Too many things that were optional for older people (buying a home, having a family, etc.) are beyond their means - and I mean those that DO work.

Globalism/socialism is the reason for their ills. They won’t ever hear that from their podcasts though.

Capitalism would actually help them.

I understand that capitalism is their best chance - but they aren’t seeing real results, so will endorse any alternative (without understanding the dangers involved).

I agree Trump (and to a lesser extent, the larger Republican Party) represents private-sector workers; if the size of government isn’t reduced, they will always be starting out against at least 47% of the population because of the number of people receiving government checks (either through gubmint jobs/workfare or welfare/public assistance).

“They have been taught that Venezuela isn’t the fault of socialism/communism, it’s because the US enacted a trade blockade. ‘We’ made Venezuela fail.”

A capitalist economy by its very nature can survive & produce abundance, and moreover, can internally self-correct, without ever requiring any engagement whatsoever with a socialist economy.

The reverse is never true.

Which is exactly WHY socialist economies fail & then invariably blame capitalism for their failures— they NEED capitalism to prop them up & to step in & bail them out when they implode.

You and I know this.

Kids under 40 do not.

They were never taught this. They have been taught that capitalism only exists because the workers are exploited. Communism is what they’ve been taught works.

Their parents were too busy to counter these ‘facts’.

I just keep asking liberals why they want to change after it’s been proven the media has been lying to them and we have the best economy in 50 years...

Authoress Beth Bauman just doesn't get it. It is NOT because they are old, white, men who are millionaires and billionaires. It IS BECAUSE they are all communists and there are still enough Americans who understand how communism ends.

After all, Trump is an "old, white, man who is a billionaire," yet he is for all Americans having freedom, liberty, the ability to run their own lives, economic growth, and patriotism.
