Jurors in the trial against Harvey Weinstein said Friday they are deadlocked on the two most serious counts against him, prompting the judge to order that any verdict must be unanimous.
New York Supreme Court Judge James Burke added that if the jury can't reach a unanimous decision, then it can't return a verdict on the two counts of predatory sexual assault. The judge also asked the jury to keep deliberating.
The jury of seven men and five women began deliberations Tuesday in Weinstein's trial. The once-powerful Hollywood mogul, 67, also faces one count each of first-degree rape and third-degree rape, and one count of a criminal sex act. The structure of the charges means he can be found guilty of no more than two of them.
In all, more than 80 women have accused the Oscar-winning producer behind "Pulp Fiction" and "The King's Speech" of sexual assault and harassment going back decades, though the charges were based primarily on allegations from former production assistant Mimi Haley and former aspiring actress Jessica Mann.
But in more than a month inside a Manhattan court, prosecutors called four other accusers as witnesses who could testify about Weinstein's alleged pattern of serial abuse, including "The Sopranos" actress Annabella Sciorra, who has accused him of raping her in the early 1990s.
Weinstein pleaded not guilty in the case and denies all allegations of nonconsensual sex. His lawyers argued the trial was an example of the #MeToo movement having run amok, and repeatedly attempted to raise doubts about his accusers' credibility and motivations in coming forward.
The flood of allegations against Weinstein, first reported in October 2017 by investigative journalists at The New York Times and The New Yorker, fueled the global reckoning over sexual misconduct by powerful men in entertainment, the news media, finance and other high-profile industries.
The trial centered on graphic testimony from Haley and Mann, who each recounted that Weinstein lured them with promises to help their careers and forced himself on them as they tried to fight back.

Weinstein is a cad. If he forcibly raped a girl then he should hang. But all those whores who gave him what he wanted so they could be in movies are as bad. A pox on all of them

I am not surprised by the result. It could have been transactional sex. Harvey offered movie parts in exchange for sex. Harvey got what he wanted and the women got the acting gig. One of the women changed her phone number 5 times and gave her new phone numbers to Harvey after he allegedly raped her. There is plenty of smoke for the defense attorney to blow in the jurors faces.

Remember the media against weinstein. One of the 2 women had a diary with i love love ny and hearts all over it the week it supposedly happened. I dont believe the mann woman. Wants him to meet mom. Give him her 5 phone numbers and those of her friends so he can reach her.
He won’t get off if you read the tea leaves the are stuck on the enhancement part of the charges, IF they had not found him guilty of the charges they would not need to have a verdict on the enhancement portion of the charges!! The difference is the penalty if found guilty of the rape charge he gets 5 years, with the enhancement he gets 25 to life!! Hard to believe that rape only carries a 5 year sentence!!!
The jury was actually shown naked photos of weinstein. One of the hurors us writing a novel on the subjectm judge wont release her. Grounds for appeal. He is a pig but these women did it willingly while they held their nose.
I’d say that both the jury and Weinstein were well “hung”.
OMG. They must know they are literally keeping a proven predator off the streets. You idiots in the jury: the fact that some of these women still felt they had to run the gauntlet to work in their business SHOULD NOT MAKE YOU THINK THIS WAS A FAIR TRADE. What next? The cartels’ “Plata o Plomo” was a legit corporate trade?
