The mayor of South Korean city of Daegu said it was facing an “unprecedented crisis” after a series coronavirus infections linked to a single church service, as worries mounted in the country.

The number of cases of coronavirus in South Korea has doubled in 24 hours, reaching 204. [snip]

Hundreds of new coronavirus cases in China on Friday traced back to four prisons on the mainland, including two in Hubei, the center of the outbreak.

In Hubei, the Wuhan Women’s prison has 230 cases, and the Shayang Hanjin prison reported 41 on Friday.

Rencheng Jail in eastern China’s Shandong province has also confirmed 207 cases of the virus.

The Shandong government said that a prison guard at the jail started showing symptoms in early February. All 2,077 people held or working at the prison were given the nucleic acid test and, as of Thursday, 200 prisoners and seven prison officers had tested positive for the virus.

In Zhejiang province, 34 prisoners have been infected at Shilifeng jail. The provincial government said these were imported cases from Wuhan, and two prison officials had been removed from their roles.

Wuhan is building another 19 hospitals for Coronavirus, so not even they have turned the corner on this monster, at least not yet:

“Prisons”

Well, that should have been expected, considering that they’ve imprisoned people for speaking up about the crisis.

We had some clown here a week or so claiming that cruise ships only provide outside air to their cabins, which he claimed was to control airborne viruses. Didn’t make much sense then, given that their outbreaks prior to Coronavirus were due to food handling (per my understanding). Also didn’t make much sense, as it is expensive to pull-in hot, humid, air at those volumes, when you can just recirculate already-conditioned air...which is the case:

““It’s standard practice for the air conditioning systems of cruise ships to mix outside air with inside air to save energy. The problem is that these systems can’t filter out particles smaller than 5,000 nanometers. If the coronavirus is about the same size as SARS, which is 120 nanometers in diameter, then the air conditioning system would be carrying the virus to every cabin...Cruise ships could minimize this problem by just using outside air and not recirculating it.””

I thought this corona virus thing sounded scary, then I watched a video about the 1918 Influenza Pandemic.

Wow, Philadelphia alone, had 200k deaths. India 20 million.
And the symptoms: gas pockets in the skin that sounded like rice krispies as they popped and patients turning such a dark blue that the medical staff could not determine their race.

they are called”hospitals” by the ccp, but are 1000 bed sealed buildings where those who are forcibly incarcerated either live or die without any treatments which facilities are easy to build as no toilets are included

At some point, the reality that COVID-19 is a man-made virus half of which comes from an existing Coronavirus found in bats, and the other half from an (as yet) unknown and unsequenced viral pneumonia will dawn on the “experts.”

At that point maybe we can begin to make some progress against this disease.

If they lose the prisoners, that’s really going to knock a hole in the Chinese organ transplant industry.

Looking at the responses by medical professionals and governments, only a lunatic would think this is an ordinary flu...
Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
