Democratic 2020 presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg said in a campaign ad released Wednesday that he led New York City through 9/11, though he did not take over as mayor of the city until several months after the devastating attacks.

There was a candidate years ago that described himself as “Vietnam Era Veteran.”
Still trying to figure out what that means. Anyone who lived then was a veteran in the broadest sense... of that era...?

My understanding: a person who served in uniform during the time but was never sent there (serving in Europe, stateside, or anywhere else but) is a “Vietnam-era veteran.”

I think everyone has a pretty clear vision of what happened that day and who was there.
That is an insult to dogs. A dog is man’s best friend. Bloomberg is not.
So I guess I could describe myself as a “Vietnam era survivor”?
I mean, I’ve never served, and never been to Vietnam. But I was alive when we were at war there (though not of age), and I *did* survive the era, or I wouldn’t be typing this.

I think that’s the same ad that says he’ll “take on the NRA and save lives”. Well, how many lives has the NRA taken?
9/11 as everyone knows was in September. The election was in November. Bloomberg took office in January (and he only won because Giuliani backed him).
Wonder what Giuliani will be saying in response.

Love them or hate them, Rudy and GW were the inspirational and iconic hero figures of the 9/11 attack, along with FDNY, Todd Beamer, and the rest of the “lets roll” passengers of flight 93.
For Bloomberg to even try to ride their coattails is akin to stolen valor.
