Bloomberg Sparks Bipartisan Outrage for Past, Condescending Remarks About Farmers: ‘Ignorant as [bleep]’

Democratic president candidate Michael Bloomberg drew mockery from both sides of the ideological spectrum after a viral clip of him showed the billionaire media tycoon belittling farming at a 2016 business school talk and contrasting it with the “gray matter” necessary to work in the modern information economy.

Bloomberg’s 2016 comments during a sit-down discussion at Oxford’s Said Business School gained attention after a Twitter account with the handle, Pete Mentes, posted a one-minute snippet of the former New York City mayor — who has never farmed — claiming “I could teach anybody in this room” to be a farmer.

“It’s a process,” he went on to say, referring to the agrarian economy 300 years ago, “you dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on to, add water, up comes the corn.” He then said working in the modern information economy is “fundamentally different, because it’s built around replacing people with technology and the skill sets you need to learn are how to think and analyze and that is a whole degree level different, you need to have different skill set, you have to have a lot more gray matter.”

It took a long time before farming on an industrial scale happened and it happened here in America. Mini Mike is trivializing one of America's greatest achievements, one that made famine nearly a thing of the past. Mass starvation is limited to totalitarian countries in the modern world. An ideology , or mind poison, that RATs incubate.

Any sizable farm, especially one over 1000 acres is going to require a bunch of very expensive equipment to include tractors, plows, planters, etc....

Yes, any non-"hobby" farming operation will have over a million dollars in capital equipment, and the farmer likely has at least a bachelors degree in some agricultural specialty.

That may be a fair assessment now but when he built his business it was way ahead of the market in that niche, providing what would have cost many times more for a financial company to build inhouse.

Mike Bloomberg with his Death Panels If you’re 95 years old ...there’s no cure, we can’t do anything

https://mobile.twitter.com/CANCEL_SAM/status/1229127380402393088

Bloomberg explaining how healthcare will “bankrupt us,” unless we deny care to the elderly.

“If you show up with cancer & you’re 95 years old, we should say...there’s no cure, we can’t do anything.

A young person, we should do something. Society’s not willing to do that, yet.”

Next time he orders foie gras, I hope someone sends him a fertile duck egg and a bag of seed corn.

Trump grew up in Queens. He is not a snob. His T.V. show brought him into the homes of average Americans.

Remember, Mini Mike came from MA.

Every time the smart Marxists have taken over agricultural production from those “dumb farmers” starvation inevitably results.

I wasn’t referring to snobbery at all; I was referring to the fact that he was a known public figure for many years (without accusations of racism or sexism), and as a result it was hard to make the mud stick when decades later they tried to smear him.

Mini Mike beleives he past comments can be swept under the rug, being a verywealthy political candidate , he can just throw his money around and get a nomination. He forgot that he still has to appeal to people past the northeast and he still has to debate!!!

Bloomberg is wrong about almost everything but he is right about this: “It’s a process,” he went on to say, referring to the agrarian economy 300 years ago, “you dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on to, add water, up comes the corn.”

Never posted you thought he was a snob. I expanded on what you said. It’s why he can relate to people and Mike can not.

US farmers are subsidized babies and only account for a measly 1% of GDP. I wish the GOP could ditch them for manufacturing and blue collar workers and have a real majority for once.

Farmers have WAY too much influence on the GOP.

We need to import food and drop the subsidies for our babied farmer class. Argentinian and Australian beef is quite tasty I am told.
