Newt Gingrich: What do Iowa and New Hampshire votes tell us about Democratic presidential nomination fight?
Fox News ^ | Feb. 16, 2020 | Newt Gingrich

The Iowa and New Hampshire results have begun to clarify the choices Democratic voters will have in picking their candidate to face President Trump in November.....

The biggest loser has been former Vice President Joe Biden. As in his first two runs for the presidency (both of which he ended early), Biden once again proved he is not an effective campaigner....

The polls in South Carolina already show substantial slippage for Biden. If the intervening Nevada caucus becomes yet another defeat (and the evidence so far leans toward Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and maybe Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., having an advantage over Biden) then the South Carolina firewall will go up in smoke......

Below is what I think are the best points made by Gingrich:

“...Bloomberg’s problem was made vivid last week as his past comments about stop-and-frisk policing in black neighborhoods received widespread condemnation.

The massive, well-executed Bloomberg ad campaign may crash and burn on the reality of the true Bloomberg. As an old adage goes, the ads failed because they worked. A good ad campaign kills a bad product fast – because it gets more people to try it....and the billions he spends will not be able to move people once their minds have been made up.”

This is why I believe that ultimately Sanders will end up with more delegates than Bloomberg by a healthy but not impressive amount and not enough to forestall a brokered convention. Some third candidate, Klobuchar or Buttigieg, possibly both of them not that far apart in delegate count, will be dragging up the rear with about 150 or fewer pledged delegates than Bloomberg.

it tells us that it’s going to be one long miserable 9 months and candidates are going to surge, then drop back all during that 9 months, and that there is no sense trying to tea leaf read at this point-

Might be a long nine months, but it will ensure they beat the crap out of each other, which won’t help them during the general election.

It is less than five months to their convention when they might finally agree on a candidate.

They are going to be so screwed by a brokered convention that takes more than 4 days. They don’t have room reservations past Thursday, they will run out food and Milwaukee will run out of beer and liquor. Furthermore the folks will have to get back to their lives and jobs.

I think it was Mark Penn who was on Fox saying that Elizabeth Warren is the biggest threat to Sanders now—by staying in the race she keeps him from getting commanding percentages in the upcoming primaries.

My observation months ago was that there was enough time for the Brown Shirt Media to give each of them a “month in the sun” and they have. They started with the obvious losers, Harris and Booker and have worked their way up.
