Business School's Shih expects disruptions for nations trading with China and for manufacturers dependent on it for components for electronics, consumer products, and pharmaceuticals

Coronavirus likely now ‘gathering steam’

Coronavirus cases hit 17,400 and are likely to surge

The rapid development of China’s coronavirus crisis coincided with the annual idling of much of the country’s economic activity due to the Lunar New Year break, which typically runs for a week or two. Global economists have been watching the post-holiday economic restart closely. Delayed a week to allow public health officials to get a better handle on the contagion, experts are looking for clues about the extent to which one of the world’s largest economies is coming back to life amid widespread coronavirus concerns. The Gazette spoke with Harvard Business School’s Willy Shih, an expert on Asian industrial competitiveness and the Robert and Jane Cizik Professor of Management Practice.

"If the 2% mortality rate is accurate if it got loose in General US population it would kill many times more then 10,000 people."

I agree with you to an extent.

I understand that there was no Coronavirus vaccine when it was discovered (escaped from a lab?) a few months back. One claim said that it would be a year before vaccine was available if I remember correctly.

But now we see things like the following.

California lab says it discovered Coronavirus vaccine in 3 hours

Yes, mortality threat is still real.

This is, or should be, obvious to anyone paying attention to the news coming out of China. I am amazed that the markets are as stable as have been. Hard for me to believe that will continue.

The company I work for bought too much inventory in 2019. Probably overbought by about 10 million dollars. This turns out to have been very fortunate. We have about 4 months of inventory after which we will have to furlough employees. We expect that shipments from China and suppliers downstream of there will resume eventually, the issue is, will it be in time?

Right now, we know there is at least 30 days disruption. The problem once production resumes is, how many companies didn't make it and competition for shipping will be fierce and delays will be substantial. I may end up retiring because of this. We shall see.

Was this little virus the global deep state’s last ditch effort to prevent the reelection of Donald Trump?

Yes, but this will lead to a 49- or 50-state landslide for the Donald, regardless of whether we are in a literal economic Depression.

What was Donald's slogan?

"MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Did Donald move all of our economy to China, or try to move it back?

Who STOPPED him from moving it back?

Every other politician in the F***ing United States!

Can you say "Emperor By Acclamation" yet?

Steve Bannon’s excellent coverage of the pandemic:

We now rely on China for the vast majority of our medicines. Even those manufactured in India, etc. A protracted interruption in China’s production will have a serious effect on us.

That’s yet another reason for American manufacturing to get out of the shithole known as Communist China. Donald Trump was right...
