Bernie Will Get the Nomination and Lose the General...Badly
American Thinker ^ | 02/13/2020 | Ed Mazlish

Even before most people were paying attention to the Democratic debates and primaries, I predicted on my Ayn Rand: Taking Liberty podcast with Scott Schiff that Bernie Sanders would win the Democratic nomination for president in 2020. The basis for my prediction was that in a flawed field, the Democrats would "test drive" each of their candidates as the frontrunner, disqualify each candidate for his obvious flaws, and settle on Bernie for several reasons. That is what is happening. Bernie has rocketed to the top of the Democratic field and seems poised to claim the Democratic nomination.

Bernie is the guy with whom Democratic voters are most comfortable deep in their hearts. He says all the things the others believe and that Democratic voters feel, but he says it all without dilution and without intellectual compromise. His intellectual consistency makes him the most comfortable candidate to the Democratic base — they know that when it comes to policy, Bernie will not embarrass and will not disappoint. When he speaks, Democrats nod their heads in agreement — even the ones who oppose him. That is a huge asset when running in a hotly contested primary.

Bernie is also the candidate with the most committed followers. His organization is second to none in the Democratic field. But while organization and intellectual consistency are important, they are not enough to win the nomination alone, as Ron Paul found out during his runs for the Republican nomination. The base of the electorate needs to be comfortable with the candidate in order for him to win the nomination. Republicans were never really comfortable with Ron Paul's foreign policy plans — but Democrats are deeply comfortable with every one of Bernie's policy positions.

Well stated.

If I may add, when he loses the election that same bunch will be out violently demonstrating.

Sort of ironic, how something as good as socialism, which is for the greater good, and let’s not forget for the children, has to be imposed by force.

Another bit of irony, is the useful idiots out committing the violence will be along side others in front of firing squads or reeducation camps if the commies succeed.

Great article. I believe his analogy to Sanders as Goldwater is correct.

continued importation of cultural aliens from the Third World who have no knowledge of our system of individual rights or the inclination to learn it,

This, along with at least one entire generation that for all intents and purposes is completely ignorant of history. Anyone who thinks the socialist movement in this country isn't an imminent threat is fooling themselves.

The only way Bernie gets the nomination is if he wins the
delegate count before the convention which is doubtful.

************

Pretty much my feeling also. If he doesn’t have the count
prior to the convention my guess is Biden will be the one.

Not a Chris Matthews fan, but I have to agree with him -— Bernie didn’t win New Hampshire -— nobody did. He got a little over 25% of the vote. Nobody “won”; ~75% of the democrats voted for someone else. The “top three” is also pretty meaningless. When one of them wins a succession of states @ more than 50%, then we can say that person “won”. Otherwise, we’re talking a brokered convention. That’s when the dirty politics kicks in REALLY kicks in.

I disagree.

I think the Dem establishment will SCROOOOO him once again.
His supporters will go ballistic and that convention looks like Chicago, 1968.

I think then a better than even chance that Bernie runs third-party to SCROOOOOO them right back.

See, that’s the frightening thing about Bernie Bots.

They BELIEVE in his policies. They WANT the misery he espouses. They truly believe that his Communist/Socialist policies will result in fluffy clouds, unicorns, free Bubble Up and rainbow stew, not realizing it’ll instead usher in an era of doom, gloom, and economic destruction unmatched in generations.

For them, one of the ‘best’ parts is the possibility of being on the ‘giving end’ of what they view as ‘retribution’ for the ‘injustice’ they’ve received. Imprisoning those in authority whom they view as ‘evil’ (who were standing up for G-d, truth, justice, the American Way, etc.). Bringing retribution and being in power over those they view have slighted them (teachers, parents, neighbors, etc.). Then, they can live out their perverted fantasies of the unspeakable acts they want to perform on US. It seems like hyperbole, but I doubt it is not far from the truth.

That’s why President Trump MUST win.

You have every reason to be worried about that. Look no further than 2018.

If Trump sneezed in a press conference his “declining health” would be the top story everywhere.

Bernie has a heart attack and his health is unquestioned.

The ‘news’ is not that “Bernie has a recent stent placed in his heart.”, but that he had a heart.......................

That would be a best case scenario for the Democrats.
What I believe will happen is that Bernie will have the votes to win the primary but the Democrats will award the nomination to someone else anyway.

The socialists will run their own ticket (probably with younger candidates than Bernie and the Democrats will come in third place in November.

Super Delegates (or Arkancide) will see to it that another candidate is nominated.

Oh, without question, this is one of the driving forces of the Left. One only need look at the Kavanaugh kangaroo court, the shamimpeachment, the utter travesty of the Roger Stone case to find perfect examples.
