The 195 Americans who were evacuated from Wuhan, China, in late January have now been released from the first mandatory quarantine the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has ordered in more than 50 years.
The group, which faced numerous health screenings both in China and during their trip and quarantine, has now been "medically cleared," health officials said Tuesday, clearing the way for them to leave the March Air Reserve Base in Southern California.
"Our guests at March Air Reserve Base are happy to see an official end today to their 14-day quarantine and are looking forward to returning home. We wish them well!" Riverside University Health System - Public Health said via Facebook Tuesday, posting an image of the evacuees gathered together outside, tossing blue face masks into the air.
There are no confirmed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus among the 195 evacuees, the health system said in a statement disseminated by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Is that for real ?
oy vey . . .
I cant help but feel that releasing them early is a mistake.
That’s a pretty long incubation period.
Different group of people, different base.
That was Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego.
This article is about the 1st group of diplomats & their families who were flown out of China. This group is at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside.
NO it’s not for real.
Different group of people.
Having just rechecked the stories, that’s correct re two different bases.
yep, got it, thanks
That’s comforting.
All we need is a super spreader like in the UK and it’s off to the races.
Good news for me as I am currently living only a couple miles away from there.
Anyone who claims beer isn’t good for you is a heretic and science denier.
You are mixing the MCAS Miramar folks, who have only been there 1 week and have 1 positive case so far, with these March AFB folks, who were quarantined for 2 weeks and had zero positive cases. There is a very, very low probability that any of them are infected at this point. I still would have kept them a little longer to be sure. Why not allow some margin for error, unknowns and outliers?
So far, outside of 1 highly questionable outlier in 1 uncontrolled study, the maximum exposure to symptoms/positive test is 13 days. I think 21 days, or even longer, would provide a more reasonable “safety margin” until we have a better handle on this.
ps: btw, took your advice on the D3.
10K IU x3 yesterday, today, tomorrow per the alternate recommendation in that CFP article.
Along with 1,000mg C twice daily, am much improved, though still kinda puny.
No telling if that stuff was magic or if the damned thing had about run its course regardless, but figured it couldn't hurt to try it.
Maybe now I'm Corona proof and y'all can tap me for a cure sooner/later ;-))
Thanks very much for the prescription, Doc.
I agree, nothing wrong with another 10 days. It’s not like they’re having to pay for the quarantine AFAIK. If they’d stayed in Wuhan they wouldn’t have been working either so it’s not like they’re really losing money they wouldn’t have already been losing.
LOL. I found that case study a few years back. Tried it ourselves and danged if it didn’t do the trick. We upped our D3 in the winter and haven’t had a case of flu since. YMMV, of course. We also take a mixture of K vitamins (K1 and K2) along with the D3 but neither of us is on any blood thinners or such. Ask your doc if you do the K2 stuff or the D3 long term.
I’ll put both of them on the shelf after tomorrow, as I do have some other meds to deal with these days that might not play well together.
But I’ll surely be keeping both the C & D on hand for next time.
Thanks again !
Drove through there MANY times.
Had GP’s out in Hemet.
What's the over/under on some of them actually having the virus and it's hiding out until an opportune time to rear its ugly head? I'll go with three.
Of course. Those mean locals "discriminating" against suspected carriers of a deadly disease. How DARE they? (channeling our favorite teen). How unwoke can you possibly be?
Happy, happy, happy until you catch it because they were released too soon.
