Its all about a phonecall. Even the Trump haters don’t really care about this.

Heck he didn’t even work hard enough to get a first term.

I imagine the deep state told both McCain and Mitt to give the elections to Obama.

GOP is lazy, and they also could take credit for Obama having 8 years in the WH.

after all, Obama is black.

Romney thought he could do Trump more damage inside the Senate than without. Imagine if he had been made Secretary of State. Worse than Jeff Sessions as Attorney General and Rex Tillerson combined.

10 Republicans voted “not guilty” in the Andrew Johnson impeachment, defying their party leadership, most Republicans voted “guilty”.

... it’s the first time that someone from the party of the President being impeached has voted for conviction.

That is huge, and is why Romney will never be re-elected.

His career in politics is essentially over, but the stain of his betrayal will live on forever.

Romney said he would pay a political price.

I think he was going to pay that price anyway and can now say it was revenge in hopes to spare himself. His son is caught up in Ukraine money and probably is about to be exposed. His adviser has gotten money from Brumisma. My guess is that Romney has a Ukraine problem also and knows it is going to be exposed.

So would you argue that Romney actually voted to acquit Trump, since he voted Not Guilty on one of the articles? Since you are arguing Senators who actually did in fact vote to convict and remove Clinton from office voted to “acquit” him because they voted to remove him “only once”?

Forgot about Shelby......IIRC he was also the deciding vote that killed tort reform. And, of course, he was the primary reason why Alabama has a rat senator - if he had backed Moore, Moore would have won. Seems like Alabama can do much better than this.

It’s not complicated. Romney voted that in his view the abuse of power article warranted removal while the obstruction of Congress article did not.
