30,811 confirmed cases worldwide, including 635 fatalities.
Link isn’t working for me. 28 days is concerning. That flies in the face of the few hours meme which could be why the link isn’t working. China is concerned with something by sending out all those trucks spraying the streets.
It was on tv but they haven’t repeated it. The report was longer than most but I couldn’t find it on their web site.
This short article doesn’t make much sense.
Also, right now, on FOX, is landing at Miramar, San Diego. One passenger is showing symptoms.
One is headed to a national guard station but did we ever hear of a NG being a quarantine area?
*******
Might be that it’s a federal base and the people being brought there can be subjected to tighter laws and rules concerning such issues than would be at the state or local level.
FOX saying the other plane is still being held over.
This may be where the 28 day info is from:
Effects of air temperature and relative humidity on coronavirus survival on surfaces.

Abstract
Assessment of the risks posed by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus (SARS-CoV) on surfaces requires data on survival of this virus on environmental surfaces and on how survival is affected by environmental variables, such as air temperature (AT) and relative humidity (RH). The use of surrogate viruses has the potential to overcome the challenges of working with SARS-CoV and to increase the available data on coronavirus survival on surfaces. Two potential surrogates were evaluated in this study; transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) and mouse hepatitis virus (MHV) were used to determine effects of AT and RH on the survival of coronaviruses on stainless steel. At 4 degrees C, infectious virus persisted for as long as 28 days, and the lowest level of inactivation occurred at 20% RH. Inactivation was more rapid at 20 degrees C than at 4 degrees C at all humidity levels; the viruses persisted for 5 to 28 days, and the slowest inactivation occurred at low RH. Both viruses were inactivated more rapidly at 40 degrees C than at 20 degrees C. The relationship between inactivation and RH was not monotonic, and there was greater survival or a greater protective effect at low RH (20%) and high RH (80%) than at moderate RH (50%). There was also evidence of an interaction between AT and RH. The results show that when high numbers of viruses are deposited, TGEV and MHV may survive for days on surfaces at ATs and RHs typical of indoor environments. TGEV and MHV could serve as conservative surrogates for modeling exposure, the risk of transmission, and control measures for pathogenic enveloped viruses, such as SARS-CoV and influenza virus, on health care surfaces.

Ya. I ran across that one too.
When I was posting the 5 days at least and was called ‘fear monger’ and such I didn’t think it wise to post :)
There’s a reason they’re called the COMMON cold. And not the UNcommon cold. Persistance on surfaces would be one driving reason.
Are they afraid that insects or animals will pick it up?
Found this. Apparently they have been using mist cannons to combat pollution.
Not sure if they are spraying disinfectant or we're seeing anti-pollution measures that predate the virus. https://www.sciencealert.com/china-has-turned-to-mist-cannons-to-blast-pollution-from-the

um..should they at least wait until the results of the test before they let the other passengers into the US

Royal Caribbean says the CDC will test 4 passengers on a cruise liner docked in New Jersey for #coronavirus.
All other guests on the ship were allowed to disembark

Holy G'Moley!
(I know, I know, it's figurative, but, still...)
Of course they were allowed to disembark.
We can’t possibly INCONVENIENCE anyone...

Good news!
Virus task force:
Offer still stands to send US experts to China
I assume that means China is still denying our experts
CDC knows that asymptomatic persons infected with corona virus can shed virus before presenting symptoms. They should have taken the asymptomatic people to quarantine. Stupid on steroids. Expect an uptick in reports in New Jersey and nearby communities. Some will head to the airport to fly home.
I begin to suspect China is operating a dissident removal service along with virus control.
Lots of reasons for them to shut us down.
Still hoping we don’t take a hit. And it gets better there.
WHO trying to but together a team with the american experts ..still waiting on China to approve that team
It is hard to believe, but the first official death of coronavirus was not even a month ago, on January 9. I know that these numbers are likely much lower than the actual numbers, but Im using this for comparison.
So on Jan 9, there was officially:
1 death
7 critical
59 infected
January 23rd was the first official death outside of Wuhan, in Hebei. There were around 100 cases noted in Hebei and another death a few days later.
https://fox8.com/2020/01/23/china-confirms-first-death-outside-epicenter-of-viral-outbreak/
So that was 2 weeks after the first death in Wuhan, and at that point there was the first case in the US.
Then the first death outside of China was on Feb 2, in the Philippines, and 3rd was in Hong Kong on the 4th.
Anyway, I know all these numbers could probably be multiplied by 10 or 100, but what Im looking for is a timeline. For example, what average number of infected does a population have before you begin to see fatalities, or how long before you start seeing fatalities?
Im really curious if anyone is working on this.
