The Myths Democrats Swallowed That Cost Them the Presidential Election

...

So what would have happened when Sanders hit a real opponent?

...

Here are a few tastes of what was in store for Sanders, straight out of the Republican playbook: He thinks rape is A-OK. In 1972, when he was 31, Sanders wrote a fictitious essay in which he described a woman enjoying being raped by three men. Yes, there is an explanation for it—a long, complicated one, just like the one that would make clear why the Clinton emails story was nonsense. And we all know how well that worked out.

Then there's the fact that Sanders was on unemployment until his mid-30s, and that he stole electricity from a neighbor after failing to pay his bills, and that he co-sponsored a bill to ship Vermont's nuclear waste to a poor Hispanic community in Texas, where it could be dumped. You can just see the words "environmental racist" on Republican billboards. And if you can't, I already did. They were in the Republican opposition research book as a proposal on how to frame the nuclear waste issue.

Also on the list: Sanders violated campaign finance laws, criticized Clinton for supporting the 1994 crime bill that he voted for, and he voted against the Amber Alert system. His pitch for universal health care would have been used against him too, since it was tried in his home state of Vermont and collapsed due to excessive costs. Worst of all, the Republicans also had video of Sanders at a 1985 rally thrown by the leftist Sandinista government in Nicaragua where half a million people chanted, "Here, there, everywhere/the Yankee will die,'' while President Daniel Ortega condemned "state terrorism" by America. Sanders said, on camera, supporting the Sandinistas was "patriotic."

Trump will use this stuff in the general if Sanders gets the nomination, but before then, rank-and-file Republicans can mention these facts about Sanders to their acquaintances.

Is Newsweek already speaking of the Sanders campaign in the past tense?

This article is from 2016. The author is explaining why Sanders would not have been a better candidate than Clinton.

long, complicated explanation" should be "tortured and non-credible explanation". But when the press wants to bury things they claim that 'even though it looks real bad, there's really a long and complicated explanation for why it's not but we won't bore you with it; move along'.

Yup, typical MSM reporting—taking notes while sitting on their kneepads while Hillary and DNC staffers dictate.

Expect to see more of the same this year.

I’m not sure about this author. Seems like (to be a conspiracy theorist he despises lol) it’s written to suppress Sanders voters.

He is also missing a lot of important points. For example, does anyone remember when the DNC locked Bernie out of their computer database for several days? I don’t remember the specific details but I believed he filed suit. And surely he must be aware of the scheme Hillary employed to funnel state and national party donations directly to her campaign - to get around the campaign donation limits of $2700 per person she had her donors pledge money to the various state/national party. In turn, because there is no limit on party donations to a candidate, they sent 90%+ of it back to her by design and agreement. Many state party representatives complained this left them starved of funds.

And for someone who is quite opinionated, he writes “if the Stein voters in Michigan voted for Hillary she *may* have won the state”. May have? It took me 10 seconds to look it up. She would have. Buy by the same measure, if all the Libertarian votes went to Trump he would have beaten her by an even bigger margin.

The press will just say it has been debunked, over and over. Doesn’t matter if it’s true.

I actually enjoyed that article. He’s a good spokesperson for his side (despite the vulgarities). And I’m pretty used to the fact that for the media, their side = the DNC.
