Like most of his Orthodox friends, Richard Goldberg was raised a Democrat.
But by 2000, Goldberg had affixed a Republican congressional campaign bumper sticker to the maroon Lincoln Town Car he drove to his Orthodox Jewish high school in Chicago. Spurred by concerns about President Bill Clintons Israeli-Arab peace process, disgust with the Monica Lewinsky scandal and a desire to emulate his older brother, Goldberg had decided to become a Republican.
Though he was not yet old enough to vote, Goldberg knew he was unusual. He remembers walking into Chicagos largest Judaica store, Rosenblums, to see stacks of yarmulkes adorned with the Democratic presidential campaign logo including the name of Joe Lieberman, the Orthodox Jewish senator who had been selected as Al Gores running mate.
The owner of the bookstore was pushing me to get a Gore-Lieberman yarmulke, Goldberg told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. I said, These are very nice. Do you have them in Bush-Cheney? He didnt even know how to respond.
Twenty years later, Rosenblums says it isnt selling any campaign yarmulkes due to a policy of not offering political merchandise of any kind. But elsewhere, kippahs emblazoned with logos supporting President Donald Trump, a Republican, are readily available. The Orthodox world has caught up with Goldberg, who worked for years as a GOP political operative.
Ive never seen anything like it as far as support in the Orthodox community, Goldberg said about Trump. Regarding the presidents policies toward Israel, Goldberg said, If your worldview is such that these things are unbelievable accomplishments and things that youve waited your whole life to see happen, this president is a dream come true.
Multiple surveys reflect Goldbergs experience. The vast majority of American Jews vote for Democrats, but a slim majority of Orthodox Jews voted for Trump...

I never understood why most Jewish people vote Democrat. Especially now when there are certified anti Semites in their ranks. Maybe enough will see the light.
It amazes me that every Jew I know hates Trump. Over this issue I have ceased to be friends with any of them (those I know) , save one....What in God’s name is wrong with these people . They remind me of those who busied themselves building and worshipping the golden calf while Moses was up the mountain
Then you need to think about it some more.
“I never understood why most Jewish people vote Democrat. “
Learned nothing from the Holocaust.
There is a stubbornness there that is historical in nature. Despite seeing miracles, they refused to believe that Jesus was the Messiah
I always have wondered why it is said they were/are ‘the chosen people’?
Were there no other choices , Or is it propaganda?
I saw the light decades ago. Many Orthodox Jews like me did. Besides the negative events that I sited at the start of this thread, there were the facts. Giuliani was an awesome mayor, though my antipathy towards Dinkins and Clinton and the aftermath of the Crown Heights pogrom were what first drew me to vote for him in ‘91. Furthermore, despite his faults, GWB was a great POTUS. What really clinched the deal, however, was Trump. He belongs on Mt. Rushmore, he is so amazing. Of course, they’d have to include a long, read tie and have his ass sticking out the other side at the foot of the hill, so leftards can kiss it. His irreverent, fun-loving approach to oratory is like a breath of fresh air. His campaign style is reminiscent of the best of Harry Truman in ‘48. I have no doubt that he’s studied him. He is just plain substantively great, and not just for Israel.
There were. The Torah was offered to other nations, too, but they demanded to see what was in it first, and then rejected it. The Jews accepted it sight unseen and promised to keep it unconditionally. Unfortunately, too many have transferred their loyalty to the DNC under the same terms, and suffer the brunt of it as a result.
There’s a famous poem in Yiddish, post-holocaust, begging G-d to choose some other nation and take away all the Jewish talent and creative genius and simply make us into washerwomen and peasants. G-d answered “no,” without doubt.
Political realignment is the norm, not the exception. The original founders of the State of Israel, from David Ben Gurion down, were Marxist heretics of the Trotskyite branch who only switched alignment to Washington in 1958. This according to The Bomb in the Basement (how Israel got the bomb from the French).
He wasnt close to a great POTUS. In fact, he competes with LBJ (another Texas jackass) for the title of Worst President Since WW2.
Cf Ex 32:25: And when Moses saw that the people were naked
The Israelites were anxiously awaiting the immorality that accompanied idol worship.
Why do you think "Easter" is symbolized by rabbits and eggs? It's because, before Easter came to be associated with Christ, it was a religious fertility festival typified by rites of fertility, viz. fornication with temple priestesses. They would do this before planting their crops to guarantee a fertile harvest.
The Torah was given from Heaven on Mt. Sinai in front of the entire people, who had already seen the Red Sea split and Pharaoh’s army drowned, to name a few of the miracles performed before the entire people.
A few fishermen two millennia ago alleged to have seen Jesus walk on water, and it doesn’t particularly matter if they believed it or not. It was not a revelation in front of the entire people, and really didn’t prove anything one way or the other. What is this? Dueling miracles? There are fundamental principles at issue between Jews and Christians, and the mere claim of a miracle on one side or the other does nothing to resolve them.
You can believe it if you want, and if it makes you a better person. I don’t care to debate theology. This forum is about politics, and that’s all the extent of my interest.
Share your wisdom with the rest of us, please.
“And unlike their more liberal counterparts, Orthodox Jews arent concerned about Trumps response to rising anti-Semitism. Seventy-three percent of American Jews overall disapprove of Trumps handling of anti-Semitism, according to the AJC. But overall, Orthodox Jews see Trump as an ally in the fight against hate...(but)...Ami Magazine found that more than 90% of its respondents trusted Trump on anti-Semitism over Democratic leaders.”
I found the above interesting. The Jews who dress publicly in clothing that identifies them, and can be seen walking all over the place on Saturdays (I think) are the ones who are least worried about Trump being an anti-semite.
More than anything else, this literally PROVES that the idea that Trump is anti-semitic, which the Left keeps telling us is the case, is simply political BS (something we all know here, but is otherwise hard to prove...until now).
Are you saying that I’ve lived a lie, and really should never have switched to Republican, because Dubya was a Texas jackass? Dubya was less than I thought he was back when I switched. Clinton, however, implied that anyone who didn’t vote to reelect Dinkins was a racist. So I made it my business to vote for Giuliani.
Please, I would welcome an explanation.
One positive for GWB was that he would not deal with Yaxir Arafat after the Karine A ship incident, and he didn”t pressure Israel over a “peace” plan with the Pals.
I don’t know who put that stupid poll together. It’s all narrative-driven BS, and totally unbelievable.
If I were back in New York and someone yelled “Heil Hitler” and threw something at me and injure or kill me, Trump at least would call it for what it is, an anti-Semitic attack and want to know the description of the perp, and expect the NYC police to apprehend him, and if the NYPD were not making a diligent effort because DeBlabio told them to take it slow, it would be a federal matter.
Dems would pretend it was a white supremacist with a deep tan, and ignore it, for fear they might find out it was a Black Hebrew Israelite or a member of the Nation of Islam, or just some “shvartze” with a grudge against his landlord or the green grocer, and thereby ruin their narrative. The same narrative that concocts fake polls.
