It is still believed that human exposure to 2019nCoV began Oct 1, 2019 at the earliest, in China.
Not enough time for people all over the world to have been exposed to it.
And if a person had been exposed they generally would evidence antibodies which they don’t.
UMass Boston student with Wuhan coronavirus visited campus health center, officials say
The University of Massachusetts, Boston student who tested positive for the Wuhan coronavirus visited the campus health center after returning home from China, according to school officials.
The student, a man in his 20s, went to University Health Services last Wednesday and was wearing a surgical mask at the time.
Officials said clinicians at the health center were prepared for the possibility of a coronavirus case and put on full body protection and masks to treat the patient.
Robert Pomales, the executive director of University Health Services at UMB, told NewsCenter 5’s Peter Eliopoulos that the health center was the first place the student went after returning home from his trip to Wuhan, China.
Other UMass Boston students contend there is no way to know that for sure, but Pomales said the risk of other students contracting the Wuhan coronavirus is minimal.
Get gloves, if you can. The rush for stocking up already started at one Walmart today: Monday! They were out of coffee and low on quite a few other grocery items. The place was stuffed with people in a hurry.
So far, the Chinese have really pushed masks, but they haven’t concentrated on continuous cleaning of surfaces. I suspect that surfaces are more important with the epidemic wherever much human traffic is happening.
You probably know the drill.
* Don’t touch your face no matter what. Avoid touching yourself or clothing anywhere else.
* After the epidemic gets here, wear gloves wherever you’ll meet strangers.
*Avoid public restrooms like the plague.*
*Properly* remove and dispose of the gloves after each public place visited *before* getting into the car (*outdoor* trash cans or a plastic bag for your car). Take each glove off by pinching the *back side* of each glove cuff and pulling it off towards the ends of the fingers. Each glove should then be inside-out.
* Wash hands at the first opportunity after taking the gloves off.
Stock up, and avoid going out during the first wave. Stay at home.
And to the gougers out there,...
And for you monstrous opportunists out there, no one will be buying the stuff that you intend to scalp others for during the very short-term die-off. No one will come near you or anyone else. You’ll simply be stuck with more than enough of those one or two items that you bought out. Each wave will last only about 6 weeks, give or take. More likely, we’ll be getting into the clear as the weather warms up over the next few weeks.

I imagine it is underreporting both cases and deaths—and doesn’t know all of either.
In other words, who knows?
I am a FIRM believer in the antiseptic/healing power of high octane liquor. It’s part of my prepper inventory too.

I don’t really like whiskey but I take a shot of it (and gargle) with OJ and New Zealand honey at any sign of a cold/sore throat..or if I have been out with people coughing all over me..like SuperBowl night
We’re doing ok on gloves and masks. I was hoping to get some extra for family.
I was doing some research last week looking at Chinese flu related deaths in the period 2010-2015. Surprisingly the death rate was much less than here in the US. I would have assumed just the opposite.
Rummy, look into Colloidal Silver. Some say it’s hogwash but I believe it staves off or shortens the life of all kinds of microscopic creatures.
Correct, as opposed to “there are probably cases of infection we don’t know about, so the fatality rate must be lower than reported”.
Any stats on the age of those dying? In the US 80% of flu related deaths are 65+.

Try your local (not online) Home Depot or Lowes. That’s where I got mine.
It has to do with how our flu stats are calculated.
I read somewhere that every pneumonia death was attributed to the flu.
Been a while since I read that so I’d have to look for it again.
