Longtime influential conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced on his show Monday he was diagnosed with "advanced lung cancer," a shocking announcement in which he said he will miss shows for treatment.
This day has been one of the most difficult days in recent memory, for me, because Ive known this moment was coming, Limbaugh said. Im sure that you all know by now that I really dont like talking about myself and I dont like making things about me
one thing that I know, that has happened over the 31-plus years of this program is that there has been an incredible bond that had developed between all of you and me.

I know what you mean. The execrable incompetent Robert McNamara lived until 93, I can’t imagine a worse man, a lying bootlicker who among his “accomplishments’ helped Teddy Kennedy cover up Chappaquiddick. He lived long enough to hang out in Georgetown parties trashing the war he started and wrote a book in his last year saying “WE were wrong” and giving Clinton cover. If only McNamara had left this earth in his 60s; for some reason, evil louses tend to hang on.
Like many, he is the voice that no one was ever hearing but everyone was thinking....that’s how I felt when he became syndicated back in 1992 on 610wtvn in Columbus. Finally...!!! that’s what I thought when I first heard him.
I have listened religiously for over 25 years....before my kids were born and now, they are all adults and on their own. He has been and continues to be a part of my life even though we’ve never met. My computer screen is blurry through my waterfilled eyes.
God bless you Rush, you will be in my prayers
when you’re in a room- you inhale a lot of the smoke- as it lingers in the air around you- but yeah, it was likely mostly the ciggs that caused it-
“Rev-rund JACK...son”
Heartbroken. There are still a few cancers that are near certain death sentences. Advanced lung cancer is one of them.
Here’s soem info on that ‘accidental cure’ i mentioned:

My BIL had stage 4 diagnosis... he lived for 5 years. Though the last year wasnt so good.
Many people believe that cigars are safer than cigarettes, but they are lying to themselves.
Please, everybody, give up smoking anything ASAP.
Oh no.
Shocked and stunned.. as if the life has been sucked out of me.

Sad day. Damned sad day.
Been listening to El Rushbo since he first came on Detroit AM radio. Got his Limbaugh Letter for many years, and have a couple of his beautiful ties, too.
He made me know that I was not alone in my conservative, common-sense thinking and positions. He said to many the things I thought and believed in.
End of an era coming. Will miss him and his persona. I put him up there with Paul Harvey, Charleton Heston and Billy Graham.
True. You don't inhale cigar smoke as a part of smoking the cigar but you do inhale as you breath and if the air is permeated with cigar smoke, it's going to get into your lungs. All smokers create second-hand smoke situations for others as well as for themselves.
This explains his recent absences. I hate the thoughts of losing Rush. Very saddening.
Rush was out with a “bad cold” for a week recently. I will pray for him and all cancer victims and other sick people.
Everybody always wondered what would happen to EIB once Rush is gone, now I guess we will find out.
This is anecdotal, I know, but I know of one regular (daily) cigar smoker (who had no history of smoking cigarettes) who died of lung cancer. It does happen.
Somehow I am not shocked. Given his heavy cigar smoking for many years I guess this is the result.
Of course he will get good medical care and I hope his treatments are able to get him to remission so he may have many more years of life. God Bless him.
Dear God. I wonder if this could've been diagnosed MUCH earlier *before* it became "advanced"?? I've noticed Rush's voice getting more and more gravelly over the years. And I know he's always been a heavy smoker...
I went there, it’s not as bad as you think. Many wished him well.
If I ever get lung cancer, it will be because of my three plus years waitressing in a coffee shop (working my way through college) in the mid-1970’s. Then it seemed like everybody smoked, and smoking in restaurants was permitted.
I have never smoked, but I had to breathe some SERIOUS second-hand smoke when I was on the job.
But since that was almost 50 years ago and I’m very healthy, I probably won’t get lung cancer from my waitressing days.
