Pray for Rusty

“the median stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer life expectancy—the time at which 50 percent of patients are alive and 50 percent have passed away—is only around eight months. The five-year survival rate—that is, the percent of people who are expected to be alive five years after a diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer—is sadly only 4 percent.”

Without chemo you are looking at more like 4 months with lung cancer...with it spreading to brain, bones, organs etc. Every case is different. A neighbor went blind but my relative was able to walk and function pretty well until the very end. He did radiation of his brain but no chemo.

Depends where the cancer went..not sure if he has small cell or not..usually these type of cancers spread to the liver. Heard now on Fox that he had experienced shortness of breath for a few days before going to the doc..My nephew’s best friend’s grandfather was diagnosed with early stage lung cancer last yr, no treatment necessary, came back after 3 months and is stage 4, he’s still alive, he takes chemo pills

This has shaken me. For 35ish years Rush has always been a part of my life. I watched the TV shows back in the day, I listened off and on over all those decades, sometimes religiously, others when I had time but always with appreciation and respect. He has my prayers and hopes. My father passed away from the same condition some five years ago after a two year struggle. So it's hard for me to hear of someone else I consider a sort of spiritual family member finding himself in the same situation. Prayers for Rush and his family and friends that he beats this somehow.

If anyone can beat the odds it’s Rush.
Prayer works. Science works. Don’t worry about statistics. He’s not a statistic.

As my Cancer oncological surgeon says, “We are surgeons, not statisticians.”

The treatment protocols are changing every 18 months. Most people treated within the last three years are not in those statistics or conversely most of the input is not from those recently undergoing therapy.
