A group of moderates, including Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), met with McConnell Friday afternoon to hash out strategy to end the trial.
In response to the concerns of moderates who want to follow the model of the 1999 Clinton impeachment trial, which set up 25 hours of closed-door deliberations, Senate GOP leaders floated the idea of having time for deliberations starting Monday. But under one proposal senators would have gotten 10 minutes each to speak on the articles of impeachment against Trump.

Just great hand this gift to the rats. This was one of the main reasons Pelosii delayed sending the articles so the stench of the impeachment would be hanging in the air during the SOTU address. Imagine the powerful optic of Trump stepping up to deliver having just been acquitted instead Mitt and his little scumbag rinos give the rats this kiss and the get to reference the undecided impeachment at every opportunity. Politicians become corrupt and are always angling for leverage that brings influence, money, favors, chits.
McConnell is one of the biggest purse strings in his party if not the biggest. Those he hasn’t corralled yet are angling for something more in return for their vote pledge.
