Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said Sunday the American public shouldn't worry about the coronavirus outbreak in China.
"It's a very, very low risk to the United States," Fauci said during an interview with radio show host John Catsimatidis.
"But it's something that we as public health officials need to take very seriously... It isn't something the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about. Because we have ways of preparing and screening of people coming in [from China]. And we have ways of responding - like we did with this one case in Seattle, Washington, who had traveled to China and brought back the infection."

Yeah - after millions of Americans gather together watching the Super Bowl. This could be the perfect storm of a pandemic - hope not, but the next ten days will tell ...
Here is another one of his quotes: “The world is a place that is so interconnected that what happens in another part of the world will impact us.”
Which will be way too late to do anything but party like its 2020.
It is FAR to early to make that call Mr. Fauci. I hope you are right.
"There is no danger that Titanic will sink. The boat is unsinkable and nothing but inconvenience will be suffered by the passengers."
Phillip Franklin, White Star Line vice-president, 1912
I feel better for not worrying.
Why worry? Were all gonna die in 10 years! A little novel coronavirus is nothing.
According to St. Greta.
Yes. And viruses don’t discriminate when it comes to political class nor do they recognize borders.
Truly alarming that they aren’t treating this more seriously.
Exactly. When our Government says “don’t worry” that’s the equivalent of them knocking on your door and saying “Hi, I’m from the Government and I’m here to help you.”
And what if the Government required all US citizens to be inoculated with a new vaccination. That too, would be pretty scary.
Just think of all the indoor basketball games with fans in close proximity
“symptomless spreaders” Is kind of a game changer - need to hunker down for a few weeks to see whats really going on ... thanks for the link

This is a stupid thing to say (and just adds to the people’s mistrust of our government.
He could have said, “It is still early in the outbreak and we do not have enough information to make an informed decision at this time. We will monitor the situation and alert the public if things change. For now, as long as you have not had contact with someone from China you should be ok”
The thing that concerns me is air travel and the fact that someone could be contagious but not show any symptoms.
It is reported that the incubation period is 14 days. So one sick person could infect and entire plane and those people could go on and infect many more and no one would know for at least 14 days.
That is how a pandemic is spread.
Let us see what the situation is in 14 days before telling us we have nothing to worry about.
I appreciate the nice summary .
If the government handles this like it did Ebola, we are screwed.
The media has been whipping-up a lot of fear about this. Whose agenda is being served? What regulations are we going to need to deal with this so-called crisis?
Baghdad Bob is out already
Sorry pal, Dustin Hoffman in Outbreak has more credibility now
But I understand the govt wanting to control panic behaviors
