Virus-hit Wuhan has two laboratories linked to Chinese bio-warfare program

The deadly animal virus epidemic spreading globally may have originated in a Wuhan laboratory linked to China’s covert biological weapons program, according to an Israeli biological warfare expert.

Radio Free Asia this week rebroadcast a local Wuhan television report from 2015 showing China’s most advanced virus research laboratory known the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Radio Free Asia reported.

The laboratory is the only declared site in China capable of working with deadly viruses.

Dany Shoham, a former Israeli military intelligence officer who has studied Chinese bio warfare, said the institute is linked to Beijing’s covert biological weapons program.

“Certain laboratories in the institute have probably been engaged, in terms of research and development, in Chinese [biological weapons], at least collaterally, yet not as a principal facility of the Chinese BW alignment,” Mr. Shoham told The Washington Times.

Work on biological weapons is conducted as part of a dual civilian-military research and is “definitely covert,” he said in an email.

Mr. Shoham holds a doctorate in medical microbiology. From 1970 to 1991 he was a senior analyst with Israeli military intelligence for biological and chemical warfare in the Middle East and worldwide, holding the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Did China pressure World Health Organisation not to declare international emergency?

China’s status as a major superpower may have influenced the World Health Organisation’s decision not to declare coronavirus an international emergency, experts have warned.

More than 1,300 people have been infected globally with the virus traced to a seafood market in the central city of Wuhan that was illegally selling wildlife.

Despite this, the WHO has failed to declare a global health crisis. On Thursday the organisation said it was ‘too early’ for such a decision but added an emergency could still be declared if the outbreak continues to spread.

‘This should not be taken as a sign that we don’t think the outbreak is serious, or that we are not taking it seriously,’ said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

‘Nothing could be further from the truth.’

Now, baffled experts have warned that their decision may have been influenced by China.

Yanzhong Huang, senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations, told The Daily Telegraph: ‘The criteria for declaring a public health emergency of international concern have been met.’

But ‘not all WHO decisions are made based on the developments in the biological world,’ he added.

"Similarly, those who followed a conservative media diet were much more likely to believe the false narrative that former Vice President Joe Biden called for a Ukrainian prosecutor’s removal to protect his son from being investigated."

Reminds me of terrorists building suicide vests at home and being careless.

I don’t think it’s that easy to get a photo of an isolated virus . And it’s probably also likely that blood work doesn’t have a visual tell to it that is specific to this virus.

My guess is the test is chemical and responds to matching a dna segment.

But I like the way you think. Would be nice if we could get there.

The 1 thing I cannot shake is, that video of about 40-50 Excavators all in 1 space , moving the earth around to “allegedly” build a hospital really quickly in Wuhan to house the infected. It looked just ‘over the top silly’ to me. I get they were trying to show the world ‘we are doing something, but that video was the wrong call.

Does it have anything to do with the mass death among their pig livestock?

But ‘not all WHO decisions are made based on the developments in the biological world,’ he added.

"The World Health Organization decided against declaring the outbreak a global emergency for now. The declaration can increase resources to fight a threat but its potential to cause economic damage makes the decision politically fraught."

Once a global emergency is declared, I'll bet there are all *kinds* of shipping / travel / transport / reporting / red tape restrictions that cost lots and LOTS of money that China doesn't have at the moment due to their swine Ebola (must be protein from outside the country) and tariffs from one President Donald Trump, causing manufacturers to leave their country.

...not that this pandemic will HELP, nor will the quarantine: but getting sick is not a government policy in the same way a trade war with the US is.

BAT SOUP: Source of China Coronavirus? Gives a new & deeper meaning to “BAT SHIT CRAZY”! Let’s boil a flying RODENT that almost NEVER sees the sun - where it MIGHT get minimal DISINFECTION of whatever the hell it carries - and lives in dark, dank caves.
What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

My post 71 has an incorrect statement: Hebei Province is NOT the epicenter for the outbreak; HUBEI Province just south of Hebei is the epicenter. Hebei does have at least 10 cases, though, as of the last data I saw.

Apologies for my ignorance of Chinese geography!

China has been investing heavily in Africa. What are the odds that the Chinese have spread this to Africa and that Africa doesn’t have the resources to even begin to test for it?

Yep, certainly possible. Worse (for us) is the Chinese presence in the Panama Canal Zone. A pandemic spreading in Central America would have ugly consequences.
