Former Obama chief strategist David Axelrod said he attended a focus group with Democratic voters in Chicago on Friday, describing the gathering as "chilling" because impeachment "didn't come up" until more than an hour into the session despite it taking place amid the Senate trial of President Trump.
Axelrod, who serves as a political analyst on CNN, shared about his experience during an interview with network anchor Erin Burnett on "OutFront" on Friday night, as Democratic House impeachment managers made their final arguments in the trial before White House lawyers begin their defense of the president on Saturday.
"I was in a focus group this morning for the Institute for Politics here at the University of Chicago with some Chicago Democratic voters, and it was chilling to hear them talk about this," Axelrod said. "Because impeachment didnt come up, no one volunteered it, for 80 minutes into the focus group, and were right in the middle of the trial."
"When it came up, they said, you know, it's terrible what he did, the case has been proven, but we know how it's going to turn out," Axelrod continued. "So we're not really that interested, we're ready to move on."

subject didn’t come up till 80 minutes?
What were the first 80 minutes about?

80 minutes into the focus group, and were right in the middle of the trial.”
Lots of empty seats in the Senate spectator gallery.

The Senate visitor’s gallery was HALF EMPTY. That jibes with this focus group.
Its because your petty, partisan impeachment doesnt amount to squat. If there arent a significant number from each side who support it, it is false and simply butt-hurt vindictiveness. This Congress will go down in history as a petulant group of greedy, power hungry authoritarians that instigated a coup against the USA.
This is a Seinfeld Impeachment.
An Impeachment about nothing.
That has been my fear of our side's turn at the bat. People are sick and tired of it and even those who watched Part I, and were influenced, may skip part II out of fatigue. President Trump deserves to be exonerated thoroughly, not merely slide by in their eyes.
That outcome is what is expected when the product is not worth your money. I say that because you said, but, implying that result surprises you. The truth is Hollywood is so out of touch with the real world, and they have nothing new because they lack imagination. Instead they possess nothing but "social justice" and "political correctness" as their motivators. Neither of which are strong sellers when it comes to entertainment.
The RNC has plenty of material to use during the election campaign.
The senate chamber could be locked and everyone go homeimpeachment is canceled. Then ask a random person on the street next week and they would be clueless about what happened. America tuned this out before it started.
Our defense team is aiming their comments at the people in the Senate... ‘the jury’.
The truth of their words will be added to the official historical record of this time... and that’s about it. We’ll move on from here - the attack on Trump will be seen for what it was - last screams from the dying democrat party.
You, are dead wrong on this one.
Democrats, even the activist core haven’t been able to sell impeachment. People whom the radical base try to convince (even Democrats by family tradition but not dedicated Ideology) are coming to the conclusion that Impeachment really was just meant to be used in cases of violent rape, murder, or treason during all out wars like the world wars.
It didn’t just backfire, but it seems to be creating a sentiment that Nixon and Clinton shouldn’t have been impeached either. Johnson? That was the middle of the nineteenth century. This is the twenty first century.
It’s not mere complacency, it’s more that the jig is up and even Democrats see impeachment as a partisan slander that somehow dirties the one who uses it far more than the target of it.
I think long knives are going to be out for Nancy even from those who demanded this.
The realization of the train wreck is finally setting in
The only movies I generally are interested in these days are foreign movies. For example, I really want to see the Korean movie “Parasite” based on what others have said about it.
“When it came up, they said, you know, it’s terrible what he did, the case has been proven, but we know how it’s going to turn out,” Axelrod continued
...
I bet Axelrod is lying about what they actually said.
What do you think they actually said?
I mostly watch Japanese “coming of age” movies and romantic tragedies. By the nineteen eighties when I was last over there America had changed to the point that Japan resembled the America of my childhood more than any place actually IN America.
Why does nobody want to talk about impeachment?
Why is it so quiet in the loser's locker room? Yeah, it's like that.
Later will come the blaming, the denying, the excuses ("everybody knows we really should have won, but...").
Later we can deny the truth, the facts, the evidence because we can call all the witnesses we like, and not call the witnesses we don't like, and they don't have to swear to tell the truth, and they won't.
And we can say "everyone knows he's guilty" because we don't have to prove anything at all, either that he's guilty or that everyone believes it.
We can say WE WON, after they turn the scoreboard off.
Since they are most likely sub-titled, and my eyesight is bad, I tend to watch old movies, and now old TV shows. I found a new show that is pretty interesting, Expedition Unknown. That sounds like a great way to make money, though some of the expeditions I wouldn’t even begin to tackle anymore. 8>)
