I mostly watch Japanese “coming of age” movies and romantic tragedies. By the nineteen eighties when I was last over there America had changed to the point that Japan resembled the America of my childhood more than any place actually IN America.
That’s why I tend to like KDramas, they tend to be all about families. And South Korea is a relatively conservative society compared to most of the rest of the world.
