The House is free to pursue any witness and document they want.
Duckworth just said that the President had to prove his innocence.

If they still want witnesses so had, then they don’t get to pick and choose ours and team Trump should make that clear. We want “whistleblower” who kicked it all off and we want the Bidens. If they won’t agree to our witnesses then case dismissed.

Isn’t that amazing? That some of the fools in the spinate act as though they are hearing these facts for the very first time? I have seen them as the uninformed foos they are only fed the pablum that their deranged staffers feed them.
I'll tell you what I think is holding them up.
Based on the testimony today, the obstruction of Congress charge falls apart because Schiff's subpoenas were illegal since there was no prior vote from the House as a whole to authorize the committee to issue subpoenas.
If Pelosi now calls for a vote to legitimize subpoenas from Schiff's and Nadler's committees, that would make the obstruction charge moot and the Republicans should move to have that article of impeachment dismissed.
That would then leave only the abuse of power charge left, and that comes down to removing the President over a phone call and a meeting not taken?
So the Democrats are stuck with trying to get the Senate to do the job that the House failed (or strategized not) to do.

No wonder they sat on their turd impeachment for a month after voting for it.
If that's the truth, then if they dont get the witnesses and documents wouldn't they have to vote to acquit based on lack of evidence?

The Dems are not delusional. Everything they do is calculated. They are taking every bit of the political battlefield the GOP surrenders to them.
But they chose not to do so because it would certainly go to court, and they wanted the have President Trump impeached by Christmas.
