After Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) proposed an amendment Tuesday to the rules for President Trumps impeachment trial in order to subpoena witnesses and documents from the White House, it failed in a party-line vote.
All 53 Republicans in the GOP-controlled Senate voted against Schumers amendment, which asked for any records created by former national-security adviser John Bolton, Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and Mulvaney aide Robert Blair regarding the White Houses dealings with Ukraine.

Were very glad they moved to three days instead of two so we wont be hearing arguments at two in the morning, its good that they admitted evidence, but the real test will be witnesses and documents, Schumer said in an impromptu statement to reporters following the vote. Will our Republican senators put pressure on McConnell so that we really have witnesses and documents?

Sounds promising. Republicans holding the line...so far. Maybe this thing can be tossed in trash quickly and with little or no drama.
Hopefully Republicans understand that you don’t parley with the devil.
The House (prosecution) makes the “case” and presents it to the jury (Senate).
The jury does NOT make the case for the prosecution!
Supposed to be implemented when the dims call for extra witnesses.
They can call for them later if they want.
Chuck does not argue for his positions, he harangues his fellow Senators.
A harangue is more than a speech, louder than a discussion, and nastier than a lecture. It is a verbal attack that doesn’t let up.
They all have a vested interest in taking Trump down, so during the disarray they could gain in their political goals to replace him.
Why isn't this clicking in the head of Mitch McConnell?
I ask this, because once the demoncRats numbers go down by four, we can lose up to five or six on our side, and still deny witnesses.
It's a real game-changer, and Mitch is missing this completely.
Nobody in the public (with half a clue) is going to fail to grasp the conflict of interest here.
I can’t help but think this is a deliberate tactic on the part of Democrat leadership to hurt Bernie. They hate him.
What you are seeing now on TV is what the Dems want to do to EVERY Trump supporter if they ever regain power..this is why Dems should NEVER get power again EVER
The entire Dem attack on President Trump seems to be straight out of the Carville, Begala and Papadopoulos playbook. Wonder if the Dems would admit that the three deadheads are being paid big bucks to verbally attack President Trump by using their directions.
I don’t see why Republicans wouldn’t vote in a block. There’s no way they’re getting to 2/3rds for removal, if they did there would be massive rebellion, and all of them want to get this over with.
“They voted only to not call witnesses and subpoena the document at this time.”
Exactly, Mitch never closes the loop. He always leaves the door open. It’s a looong way from what the headline says. It a pattern and it frustrating as hell.
53 ??? - Game, Set, Match
He said he has more to present. One gets denied, hey, I got another one that requires a vote. Fidiots!
All 53 Republican’s know that Trump will win the next election... Do you really want to make the guy who’s going to run the country for the next four years mad at you? After all, you may want to have some funds go towards your state, or you may want to run for President and Trump’s endorsement and more importantly Trump’s money may get you the throne.
This means Delecto voted the right way. He went to the mountain and lost his nerve.
