Indoctrination Education: Public Schools Are Now Programming Facilities

When I was in eighth grade, a teacher announced we were going to study capital punishment. The methodology for this process was that the class was divided randomly in half, and each side was assigned the task of writing an essay: one half pro, one half con. After we had completed our essays, the students engaged in open debate about this complex issue.

Perhaps this sort of objective process of critical thinking is still practiced in some American schools, but it surely seems scarce. In its place, secular liberalism, and "progressivism," have become the Church of the American State, administered through public schools.

When Roe v. Wade was decided, the schools may have taught that abortion was legal, but they did not instruct children that it was moral — that was left to parents in the home. By the time marriage was redefined so two men could claim it together as a constitutional liberty, the landscape had clearly changed — not only are children being instructed that homosexuality is the moral equivalent of heterosexuality (in conflict with numerous faith and cultural traditions), but they are being taught that they can select their gender orientation and gender "identity." In Vermont, young children are offered transgender hormone treatment in preparation for transgender surgeries — and if the parents disagree, a court order can bypass them.

Excellent. I had not heard nor read this before!

If you send you child to Catholic school for twelve years, you would expect that he will be taught a love for the Catholic church. If you send your child to military school, you should expect that he will be taught a love for the military. Why are you surprised when you send your child to a government school for twelve years that he is taught to love the government?

They could choose better teachers only if the pay was equivalent to that found in industry.

Well, you and I agree strongly. Conservatives like to complain, but they don't actually seem disposed to becoming part of the solution.

After retiring from a long career as a Hardware/Software Engineer, I had a opportunity to teach Embedded Computing in a local High School. I had a blast and my students loved my class. Many told me that my class was their favorite in all of high school.

Alas, I am too tired to get a teaching certificate, so after three years my permit expired. I learned a lot about the internals of schools; and, most of the trouble is clearly not the fault of teachers. It certainly looks like errant parental pressure through the courts causes schools to adopt self destructive measures.

Kudos to you, precious lady!

Several Conservative friends have left our conservative county here in California because they hate the taxes and Libs here.

While they can live in Nevada cheaper and the area around Minden / Gardnerville is mostly conservative they find themselves still in a Blue State with poorer weather.

Not sure what the answer is. Wait for the Hispanic population there to wake up ? You’d think good hard working people would eventually figure out the Left is really not the working man’s friend.

If you absolutely have to place your kids in government schools, you will have to plan on spending more time deprogramming them. It goes with the turf.

‘and, most of the trouble is clearly not the fault of teachers.’

of course; the teachers and their unions have not caused any mischief whatsoever...

Teachers are required to follow the whims of the school board and the state legislature. On the other hand, there are terribly hideous liberal teachers and officials in some places. I found most teachers I worked with to be fairly decent people who resented the rules under which they operated.

Most conservatives target teachers, not even thinking once that most problems originate at the county and state levels. If they re-target their angst they could better address the issues.

California has been addicted to Uncle Sam’s bailouts. They have jumped into each and every wacko scheme, certain that the federal government would bail them out. Now, it isn’t happening, and those sucking at the California teat are addicted and it is running dry.

'We'd get better taught students if only the pay for teachers were higher.'

We hear this HOW often?

We raise their pay HOW often??

And the corresponding grades are better and better each time; right???

SUCKERS!!

I can assure you that teacher pay is a great deal less than, say, a software engineer in industry. I have experienced both.

I have a degree in computer science. After 46 years working in industry as a hardware/software engineer, I retired. That gets boring fast, so I went to the local high school to teach Embedded Computing. Interaction with the students was a blast and most of them were eager to learn. Of course, I did have personal contact with teachers; and, it didn't take long to figure out that they earn less than 1/2 what I did while in industry.

It was also easy to see that the biggest problems facing teachers was the administration and parents. The administration set rules that are counter to decent teaching, and parents tend to jump teachers with lawsuits if their children can't keep up with instruction or otherwise aren't being treated fairly.

The teachers want to return to the old ways of instruction, but state/federal/county administration will not let them do so. The school system is sure to get lesser qualified individuals than industry at half pay. On the other hand, the state/federal/county rules have so dumbed down education sufficiently that high school instruction does not really require the best and brightest.

Now you are probably thinking that there is no incentive for the state/federal/county administrators to dumb down the schools. Principles in particular are graded by the number of students and the grade point average of students that graduate. The better the numbers look, the better chance the principle has to move to a truly high-payed job at the county. The county wants to minimize lawsuits. The state/federals seem to be stupid. All combined, it is better for the school system to dumb it down.

So, if you want to make a difference, support the teachers. Watch who you put into office at the school board and in the state's DOE. Apply your pressure to where it belongs, not the low hanging fruit.

After three years I returned to just plain retired since all I was headed for was clash with the administration.

Oh, one more thing. Conservatives do not typically take teaching jobs. How can it be a surprise that most teachers are liberals? Conservatives really need to get behind children and get their butts into schools. It seems that the prefer to bitch in blogs rather than materially supporting the Nation.

Nope.

Get RID of all the hangers-on; that have been ADDED within the last 50 years; that are NOT teachers!!

Then there'd be PLENTY of money for TEACHERS!

. Conservatives do not typically take teaching jobs.

You are aware of the old adage:

Them that can; do.

Them that can't; teach.

True; but they gonna have to be at levels ABOVE teachers to do any good.
