A container with 23.94 tons of American chicken feet cleared Chinese customs Tuesday, potentially heralding the start of a new trading era between the two countries just days before they sign a long-awaited trade deal.
The chicken feet, or phoenix claws as theyre known in Chinese recipes, were inspected and approved for unloading by customs in Shanghai, the official Securities Times reported. The event marks the return of U.S. poultry meat to China five years after it was banned, it said.
China prohibited the import of all U.S. poultry products in 2015 in response to cases of avian flu in America. That stance changed last year as demand for alternative animal protein surged after the spread of deadly African swine fever slashed the countrys hog herds and reduced pork supplies.

A step in the right direction.
Looks like something Andrew Zimmern would eat with a side of grilled brown recluse spiders.
“Chicken feet make AWESOME gelatin.
The gelatin is great for giving body to soups.”
And the best part is between their toes!/sarc
Ever since about 2005 there has been a big push to big chicken houses in eastern NC. A chicken house is a big pole barn metal building about 60’ x 500’.
This shift in chicken production was to get the food grown closer to the Northeast and export to Europe. In the past the chicken houses were mostly in Arkansas.
I absolutely LOVE those tins of Danish butter cookies that they always sell at Christmastime.
But I quit buying them about five years ago when I noticed the labels changed from “Made in Denmark” to “Made in China”.
build chicken houses (not big)
I know I sound pretty stupid but wasn’t there a time when it was “rumored” that we ship our poultry and pork products to China for processing and they ship it back to us?
” Australian trading company owner who grew wealthy swapping chicken feet from Australian slaughter houses with China for bamboo underwear and other intimate garments made from bamboo fiber.”
It makes great fly rods but underwear? Isn’t it kinda stiff, or is that a selling point?
“Heals your Gut: The dense gelatin in bone broth is a vital nutrient for healing the gut.”
Which is needed when you consider the other stuff the zips eat./sarc
We send feet they send wings. Even Steven
Comfortable and durable . . . ever try a pair? Breathes as good as cotton, wears as good as nylon.
Never even seen them.
I think I'll stick with Vitamin U.
Suggest you start with a bamboo fiber pillow. You can buy them at your local CVS, Walgreens, Target or even Wal-Mart. See if you like the feel of that before trying the underwear.
Cue up Dixie Chicken on the turn table...
My wife helped a Chinese (Taiwan) college student with his English. He invited us to an “authentic” Chinese restaurant. As we were getting ready to order he pointed out something that looked a little like KimChee. He ordered it for us. I asked him what it was and he said something like “pom of duck” which I thought was his broken English for heart of palm.
Anyway when it arrived it was duck feet (palm of duck). I ate some to be polite, my wife nibbled a bit of web, declared it wonderful and went on to other things. I believe the Chinese believe duck and chicken feet to possess certain medicinal qualities.
For sale in central Ohio Walmart too. Often wondered what someone would do with them
My GF’s maid was ecstatic that butches in the USA would give her the Chicken Feet for FREE!
