Wish we could be so lucky.
And this means what?
In that case, I will take over and run Russia.
Can I telecommute?
Well...that’s scary.
Did this just come out of nowhere? Is Putin going to forma new government? Hell...is he going to declare himself ‘czar’?

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has announced that the government is resigning. The statement came shortly after President Vladimir Putin delivered his annual state-of-the-nation address.
Accepting the resignation, Putin asked the ministers to function as a caretaker government until a new one is formed.
Before announcing the resignation of the cabinet, Medvedev met with Putin to discuss his state-of-the-nation address, which took place earlier on Wednesday, the Kremlins press office said.
In his address, Putin proposed several amendments to the constitution.
*** Medvedev explained that this cabinet is resigning in accordance with the Article 117 of the Russian Constitution, which says that the government can offer its resignation to the president, who, in turn, can either accept or reject it. ***
*** In this context, it is obvious that, as the government, we must provide the president with a capability to make all decisions, which are required to implement the proposed plan, Medvedev said. ***
Putin also said that he plans to create a position of the deputy secretary of Russias security council, and offer it to Medvedev.
One way to read this is that they gave him the go ahead to do what he wants (he will anyway) by getting out of the way.
Some one-way trips to the Lubyanka?
State of the Union is coming up. Cross your fingers.
In fact Putin is offering lawmakers to consider a post-FDR style amendment limiting presidential power to two terms.
Cynical wags will say Putin is angling to return as PM.
This all a game of musical chairs and with United Russia holding a constitutional supermajority in both houses of Parliament, the proposed constitutional changes will be easily passed.
Putin is doing all this stage scene shifting to ensure his hold on power well past 2024.
We shall see. It doesn’t mean anything at this point.
Shuffling the bureaucratic deck of cards? We will see.
Does Putin want us to call him Czar now?
Why not the original Romanov was from a family of horse breeders.

I am sure a new dynasty based on a security bureaucrat career is just as illustrious!
