Turkish-backed mercenaries in Libya increase to more than 1,250 after the arrival of more than 250 fighters. 2,000 more prepare to move

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that some 260 fighters including a captain of Turkish-backed factions, went to Libya last night to fight alongside the Turkish-backed Government of National Accord forces, sources confirmed that the fighters are all from the “al-Sham Corps” faction, and mostly from Homs city, also 300 fighters of “al-Sham Corps” are being prepared to be transferred after several days to Libya.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on the 5th of January 2019 that SOHR sources documented the killing of the first Syrian fighter of those sent by Turkey to Libya, in the ongoing battles in the Libyan capital “Tripoli”. He was killed while fighting in the side of the “Government of National Accord”.

According to information obtained by SOHR; the killed fighter is a member of “Sultan Murad” which is one of the most prominent factions among those sent their fighters to join the war in Libya.

The factions will keep the incident a secret, and will announce the death of the fighter as if being killed in the battles of North Syria, SOHR sources reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has been still keeping pace with the developments of Turkey’s plan to transport Syrian fighters to Libya to engage in the ongoing war there. SOHR sources have confirmed that nearly 1000 mercenaries have been already sent to the Libyan territory. Meanwhile, about 1700 recruits are undergoing training courses in the training camps in Turkey.

Also, the recruitment has been continuing widely whether in Afrin or the controlled areas of “Euphrates Shield”.

On December 30, SOHR sources confirmed that the number of conscripts that have been arrived in the Turkish camps to undergo training courses exceeded 1600 mercenaries of the fighters within the Turkish-backed factions of Sultan Murad, Suleiman Shah, and al-Mu’tasim Division.

They were transported from Afrin area after registering their names, at the time when the registration of more fighters widely continues, which means that the operation continues, despite the great focus on it politically and on media.

It is noteworthy that the conscription of mercenaries is a crime according to the international conventions issued by the UN before about 30 years ago.

I've followed this source of news from inside Syria for quite a number of years. They help with caring for displaced people and document abuses by military forces. I've found them very accurate, often understating somewhat, never overstating statistics. They are a regional group, not an international organization.

Turkey is silently increasing their Mercs in Libya and staging them from Afrin (Efrin), Syria. Casualties from Libya are reported as having been killed in North Syria to avoid attention to the losses and to minimize awareness of size of the forces involved in Libya.

How was it Obama was allowed under Art 2 (supposedly to protect US natl sec) to conduct missile strikes in 2011 in Libya targeting Gaddafi, but Pres Trump wasn’t allowed under Art 2 to target Soleimani in Iraq who killed 600+ US troops & wounded thousands of others????

when trump was elected someone started “The Resistance” and many elected democrats signed on. I think Hillary declared herself a members.

The goal to disrupt anything Trump does, to not support anything and to impeach him. So when you point out hypocrisy, the dems don’t care about that. They just care about getting trump out at any cost.

Not quite.

Not saying they don't provide plenty of accurate information, but they're a propaganda arm:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights is run by "Rami Abdulrahman" (sometimes referred to as Rami Abdul Rahman), from his home in Coventry. Abdulrahman is a Syrian Sunni who owns a clothing shop. Born Osama Suleiman, he adopted a pseudonym during his years of activism in Syria and has used it publicly ever since. After being imprisoned three times in Syria, Abdulrahman fled to the United Kingdom fearing a fourth jail term and has not returned.

In a December 2011 interview with Reuters, Abdulrahman claimed the observatory has a network of more than 200 people and that six of his sources had been killed. In 2012, Süddeutsche Zeitung described the organisation as a one-man-operation with Abdulrahman its only permanent member. In April 2013, The New York Times described him as being on the phone all day everyday with contacts in Syria, relying on four individuals inside the country who collate information from more than 230 activists, while cross-checking all information with sources himself.

In 2013 the New York Times reported that Rami Abdulrahman had received small subsidies from the European Union and one European country. Medialens said that journalist Ian Sinclair confirmed "in communication with the Foreign Office" that "the UK funded a project worth £194,769.60 to provide the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights with communications equipment and cameras.

Just poked my nose around again on Libya.......looks like since Syria controls most of their nation now the Jihadists are moving into Libya to fight there.....these guys go whereever conflicts are errupting and in this case looks like Erdogan is assisting them....

France, Italy, Greece and Jordan also sending troops so this ‘thing’ could well explode since there’s really no leadership to speak of there.

Erdogan is Europe's new Hitler. They say History does not repeat but it does rhyme. In this case it is similar to Hitler's aid to the Spanish civil War.

A childhood friend of Erdoo, long ago said that Erdogan carried a copy of Mein Kampf and was always walking around quoting out of it.

Totally Believable.
