Iraq has not formally requested anything. Reports are that they even backed away from that non-binding resolution.

I doubt very much that Trump would do anything right now that could be construed as a capitulation.

We’re not going anywhere.

I tend to agree. For one thing, the sanctions need to be enforced.

People forget that the sanctions being imposed on Iran include more than just economic sanctions - there are also sanctions against interfering in Iraq and other neighboring countries.

These sanctions are being violated as we speak and there needs to be a response from the the US for them to be effective. Unlike Obama, President Trump knows this.

He’d love to leave the ME completely, but the sanctions are working, and some military presence in the region is needed to enforce them.
