He said “God Bless America”, spun on his heel and walked out the door he came in. I could hear questions, but obviously he wasn’t taking them. He was out of the room before they could finish a sentence.
He sounded unhappy.

I thought he was not happy also. The General over his left shoulder looked really nervous.
In my opinion, he did not seem happy. I think he is somewhat hamstrung by various things that preclude him from doing what he really wants to do.
I don’t think he was unhappy - he was just going out of his way to avoid humor or glibness.
He wanted to be measured and serious in order to put everyone’s mind at rest in the face of ongoing fake news fear-mongering regarding WWIII.
He did a perfect job of it
“He sounded unhappy.”
I’d say he sounded resolute.
