I don’t think he was unhappy - he was just going out of his way to avoid humor or glibness.

He wanted to be measured and serious in order to put everyone’s mind at rest in the face of ongoing fake news fear-mongering regarding WWIII.

He did a perfect job of it

Trump’s tweet last night did that in spades. Probably one of the more calming tweets of all time. The more he turns the other cheek when it’s warranted the more support he gets from his countrymen. His escalation was, I believe, widely supported because of how restrained he’s been. If Iran does something again and Trump hits back twice as hard he’ll be supported all the more because of his actions (lack of response) last night. He’s the right man to lead the country.

You’re probably right.

I’m so used to seeing him at rallies, where he just beams with delight...

Today’s performance was a sharp contrast to that.
