AIN ASSAD AIR BASE, Iraq — Iran struck back Tuesday for the killing of a top Iranian general last week, firing a series of ballistic missiles at two Iraqi bases housing U.S. troops in a major escalation.
Iranian state TV reported the strikes were in retaliation for the killing of Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani, whose death Friday prompted angry calls to avenge his slaying.
A U.S. official said there were no immediate reports of American casualties.

Update 9:30 a.m. EST Jan. 8: President Donald Trump is expected to speak Wednesday morning amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
Trump is expected to speak at 11 a.m., according to White House officials.

Actually Obozo and Lurch DID give them the money. That was the practical outcome - the mechanics of how that money was made available is semantics. Even if it’s their own frozen assets handed back to that, it’s irrespective of what happened with that money.

Iran Leadership isn’t even close to Ukraine, Japan, nor Saudi in how they were approached on nuclear... so that’s a weak arguement to expect Iran would even consider. It’s a terrorist state that operates in proxie conflicts and will always play on any side, and quick to change, that they stand to gain ground and this with their eye on the goal of establishing other Islamist states....and no Islamist state will ever “be under the USA”.....and you make it sound like Irans association with russia and China is somthing new....it’s not.
There will never be peace for long in the middle east....at most cease fires and exactly as we’ve seen played out....they scurry back in their holes until the next time they raise they’re head to fight.

They were changing Trumps speech right up until the moment he came out. Some guy in a suit came out about 20 minutes before Trump, and took the speech off the lectern. Brought it back about 2 minutes before Trump came out. Trump doesn’t do as well in a strickly prepared speech. Due to the serious nature, I am sure he was advised to stick to it.
He thought it was a politician’s young daughter?

Trump sounded like he just ran out to the podium. Out of breath and exhausted even when recovered and no longer breathing hard.
Stumbled on one word particularly.
Every time Trump speaks from a a script he sounds dull, like a poor speaker. Now I’m wondering if such is always the situation he sounds unhealthy as if something is going on.
I looked and this and thought, those two midgets on the left look like children, but the one on the right has a beard so I guess even though he’s small, he wants people to know he’s not a child but a grown man. Then it slowly dawned on me—it’s Chuck U. Toad!!!

Today’s performance was a sharp contrast to that.

I heard him correct the word. Not a big deal.
No, he really sounds bad. And every time he does “scripted”, I thought he is just a poor speaker/reader. But maybe it’s more than that.

Iran claims that they do not want nuclear power for nuclear weapons. The fact that they are sitting on a sea of oil makes that a ridiculous statement but how can they be publicly upset with Trump saying that Iran will never have nuclear weapons.
There is a nice boomer sub sitting out there in the Persian Gulf with about 28 nukes in the tree farm ready to fly. Just one little order and sink Iran’s entire nuke program very quickly.
Many people thought Soleimani was going to be Iran’s next President. Clearly, he was Khamenei’s favorite, and always sat right next to him during events, despite being second echelon in the military structure and not a religious leader.
