Iraq is no longer a threat to the West. It’s no longer a threat to it’s neighbors. To the extent it’s a problem now, we can attribute at least part of it to Iran.

We lost 8 of our troops in Iraq in 2019.

While any is too many, Iraq is not the massive problem folks make it out to be.

As for the Muslim bomb, Pakistan has not handed tech off to Islamic Fundamentalists. The real danger there is the Taliban gaining control of their nuclear program. I suspect we have a contingency program should that seem imminent.

Iraq was never really a threat to the West. AT best it was hot air.

In 1990 it was a threat to the Saudis and the Iranians. The Saudi king snapped his fingers and his “blue eyed blonde American slaves jumped and died for him” (his words).

If Gulf war 1 had not happened, then Saddam would be threatening the Saudis for more money to fight Iran, the Ayatollahs and the Saudi Mullahs would be too preoccupied to create Madrassas across the world - no 9/11, no refugee crisis, no Islamic state, no Taliban.
