I dunno. Money undoubtably. People paid for their tickets. They expect to get on their plane and be where they want to go in this case Kiev. I am sure travellers evacuating Tehran want to GTFO just as much as people getting out of LA, Atlanta, or LaGuardia. Who thinks they’re gonna get shot down?
The Iranian Military is basically incompetent. If they were trying to shoot down a specific plane, I don’t think they could have done it. This has the earmarks of a trigger happy idiot.
There was a 1/2 hour between the doomed flight and The plane before (Qatar 777) which turned east before it overflew the Parand power station (and therefore didn’t overfly the military base boundary). The UIA 737 was the first plane to overfly the military base north of Parand in an hour. Maybe there was a shift change at the SAM battery and the new guy didn’t get the memo.
Check the fuel loaded, and the maintenance performed in Tehran. Also the “black boxes” for aircraft performance and crew conversation during flight problems.
But all this is under Iranian control and not likely to be done honestly. Maybe Iran is getting their vengeance on a weak pro-USA nation.

That is not true. It was a regular 737 and only 3 years old. It’s an aircraft with an excellent safety record.

I would find out who is on the Manifest of that plane. There are no coincidences. I am suspecting that there were some important players that the CIA and Brennan and Jared could not let live. Iran was used to take them out and to puff up their chest much like the 15 missiles missed everything. This was a opportunity that could not pass up. It made Iran look tough and horrible but that’s about it. Again I think probably there were some important Witnesses on that plane.
I am with you in on this coincidence NOT why in the HELL was that plane in Iranian air space with missles flying everywhere AND Ukrainian plane????

Apparently the president of Ukraine was on a state visit to Oman when this happened. He is cutting that short to return to Kiev. I’ve read speculation elsewhere that the plane could have collided with a surveillance drone or may have been in the line of fire when Iranians tried to shoot down a higher flying surveillance aircraft or a drone. There are important military bases in the general area of the crash site.
Personally I doubt that this was anything to do with eliminating witnesses in any potential U.S. legal cases. The passenger list will probably turn out to be mostly unfortunate regular civilians visiting relatives in Iran over the holidays (which may explain the large number of Canadians on board, there is an Iranian community in Canada, mostly people who left forty years ago, and the connection would be that Ukrainian Airlines flies to both Tehran and Canada from Kiev. Or possibly another airline for the longer flight. RIP.

Canadians. They talk a good rainbow game, but they sure do seem to love vacationing in oppressive regimes. Probably so they can commiserate and tell them the “USA is worse”.
