Israel would have to fly over other countries that are too scared to fight the mullahs. They can’t give a wink and a not to the Israelis. The best option is to destroy targets in Syria, perhaps Lebanon.

Israel is an easier and more accessible target for them. Plus they hate Israel just as much, so why not take the opportunity. As a bonus Trump cannot, or won’t, retaliate against Iran the same way he would if they attacked American targets. They know a chunk of his base (not me) won’t stand for Trump getting involved in the ‘affairs of other countries’. From Iran’s standpoint it makes sense.
